What it means to be a soldier of God

What does it take to be called one of God’s? Do you have to commit to a life of poverty, be constantly getting hurt by people, or is there a moment where our God promises to repay? Being a soldier of God doesn’t require anything but the love for God and God himself. We humans can’t become a soldier of God unless it was given to us by God. For this exact reason is why we need to be consistently praying. Today we will delve into the topic of what it means to be a soldier of God.

What should Christians be doing?

            Christians are in a special place in this world. As Christians we were given a task to spread the gospel to many nations. Whether it is through Facebook, singing, or good old fashion preaching; we Christians should strive to spread the good news as much as we can. This does not mean being hurtful towards other sinners, but rather; love everyone with the same love that God would love for us. Be patient with people, be strong with people, show the world what good things the Good Lord has for us. Christians don’t have a heart that is cold or bitter; we have a heart that is loving, kind, nurturing and powerful. So show the world just exactly the kind of heart that God gives and the kind of person that God makes.

The armor of God

            Ephesians 6:11-18

            “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all of the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Praying always with all prayer and supplication In the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”

            The bible many times compares Christians to soldiers and how our battles are to be compared to them. It’s true, we fight hard battles because we fight our own sin nature and are doing it to please the Good Lord.

So be truthful, be righteous, be patient, always pray, have faith, have the word of God with you, be peaceful, and when you do these things, the Good Lord will guide you all the way into heaven.
