First off let me start by saying that God answers every prayer it’s just a matter of identifying it. God has answered so many of my prayers that it’s hard to just narrow down to one. Today we will look one of the prayers that God has answered and why it was so strange.

Backstory time: When I was 5 years old, I had prayed to God to give me a guitar. I had prayed to God to let me be a guitarist because I had seen the people at church perform and I heard the electric guitar play on the stereo system of my car and I just thought wow! So, I prayed to God to give me a guitar. All my parents ever said to buy me a guitar was NO! A big fat no because they thought it would be something that I would pick up and just leave it alone. I assured them that I wouldn’t but they wouldn’t let me. 6 years later when I was in the 6th grade they finally said yes to the guitar and got me my first electric guitar. That Christmas will forever be engraved in my mind. So I started practicing the guitar and reading books and taking classes and then finally by the time I got into the 11th grade I had been named most outstanding music student of the year and I won an award from the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. (I had actually prayed to God to make me a great musician) It’s not the fact that I prayed and that it’s because of me, but God has the plan to place me a desire to learn more about music every single day and so I did. All of this to say that I prayed to God to give me a guitar and to make me a guitarist and he did so. God had blessed me.

I always said that if God ever made me a guitarist, then I would use it to write songs and sing praises to him. I will honor my promise because every time I practiced the guitar, I would always say a prayer to help me. There are some things that you guys don’t know about me that would prompt you guys to believe that it had to be God that worked in me in those early days. It has to be God that’s working in me now. God is the only reason why I am who I am and I couldn’t be more grateful.

So, the moral of the story is this, if you pray to God for a good thing, he will undoubtedly give it to you. A job is a good thing, a house is a good thing, food are good things, a wife, kids, wisdom, intelligence, all of those things are good things. There are other good things out there but you have to ask God if it’s appropriate for you.

I hope that this has been a good story to share with you guys. Ask God for the things that you need and want and God will hear you, there’s nothing shameful in that. God answers in unexpected ways so be prepared for an unexpected answer. -German
