I think the preaching is on point
Knowing that the preacher is preaching something good, builds our confidence. It builds our confidence not on man, but on the Lord. This enables us to trust in the Lord harder. Trusting in the Lord is beneficial because we know that what he does in our lives is good for us and we can have no fear in believing in him.
I remember one time I heard from a preacher that the number one reason why Christians like their church is because of the music. I think music is important, don’t get me wrong, but that shouldn’t be our top priority when we go to church. Church should be a place where God is taught, where we renew our minds. I don’t mean to insult anyone who believes that church should be to entertain you, but, what did you go to church for? For God or you? Think about that.
I love the people
The people at my church are a loving bunch. They love God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. I believe that the people at my church are trying to look for God on a day to day basis.
I remember one time, I saw a young man, whose Spanish was a little broken, but he stood up in front of everyone and started to translate for the preacher. I was so impressed at the fact that he was able to do so well with the little Spanish that he knew. I say that God was the one who was putting words in his mouth.
I remember another time. My friend who was roughly my same age, came into church and brought his friends with him. A few of his friends accepted Jesus that day. I was so happy for them. I never heard from them again though.
It’s close to my home
When you have church close to your home, you can walk by it everyday and know that a good day at church awaits you on Sunday. Also, you can attend more often the services that await on Sunday, Wednesday and do the passing out tracks on Saturday. I like that in church.
I remember a few times I wanted to go to church on Saturday morning because that’s the men’s prayer group. And the church is so close by that I could take an Uber there every Saturday morning and just wait for the Sunday prayer group. I loved that.
I completely understand people who want to travel farther away to attend a good church. I used to travel 60 miles away to get to my church. And we did that because we believed that the church was a really good one. I understand that, pray to God to provide and he will.
It’s bible based
I’m not trying to offend anyone at all when I say that my church is bible based. I really am trying to say this in the most polite voice possible. But, some churches and some preachers don’t even open their bibles when it’s time to preach. It’s a shame because people who really want to hear the word of God are going to be there and if they don’t hear it then they’ll just go away. You need to incorporate the Bible in your preachings and lots of it. I’m not a preacher but if a church wants to claim Jesus as their king, shouldn’t they read and study and meditate what he said and his followers said? More Bible is a must.
We rely on God and not man
Again, I’m not trying to offend anyone. But some people rely on their pastors or preachers to be good and they lean on them for support. But, what happens when that person falls? You are going to fall too. You need to rely on God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit and in them alone. If your preacher is a good man, then good. If they follow the Bible and love God with all their hearts then good. Just don’t be surprised to see sin in their lives. He’s also man.
I remember one time I was talking with my mom and she said, look everywhere you go there’s going to be something wrong with the church, something wrong with the people, something wrong with the music. But, what are you there for? Are you there for God or man? You should be there for God. So, when deciding a church, look at the principles of the church, their foundation in which they base their belief off of. If they don’t base it off of God, then that’s not a good church to go to.
