Three things Christians understand

Chastity till marriage

As Christians, we know that having sex before marriage is a no; however, the world teaches us that sex before marriage is alright. Being chaste before marriage is not a worldly teaching: doing so is a Godly teaching. We can look throughout history that man taught that sex before marriage was alright. It wasn’t until God said it was a sin that man started to realize what was right and wrong.

I remember a few times my preacher and my mom have told me that if I were to get married to someone, then it would have to be with someone Christian. The reason for this is because being a Christian means surrounding yourself with other Christians. It means having Godly relationships, and those relationships should worship God both implicitly and explicitly. So, imagine that you have an atheist girlfriend, how can you worship God when your girlfriend doesn’t want to worship with you? Or how about when that atheist girlfriend wants to have sex but you want to be faithful to your God? That’s a very difficult situation that can be avoided if you have a Christian girlfriend.

The Bible clearly states that marriage has to be first before sex, so we should listen to the Bible because it is life. Even in the New Testament, Peter says to abstain from fornication. It’s just something that God wouldn’t want us to do.

No alcohol or drugs

Staying sober minded is important for us, because how are we supposed to listen and obey the word of God when we are on the moon? The Bible doesn’t explicitly say anything about smoking marijuana or doing cocaine, but it does say to be of “sober mind”.

The Bible also says that we are to treat our body like a temple: in a temple, you take good care of it. You don’t mark it with graffiti, you don’t have drugs in it, and you certainly don’t do anything crazy in it. For these two reasons is why it’s not good to do drugs, smoke marijuana; drink alcohol. I know I know some of you are saying, “but German, I’m of age and I drink and don’t get drunk. Is that bad?” Short answer: yes. Long answer: a smoker who smokes tobacco doesn’t get high or lies his mind, but they are not treating their body like a temple. Here’s a good way to recognize whether you should do something or not, pray to God about it. If you say to yourself that you’re going to pray but the answer that God would say is it’s wrong, then you know that it’s not something you should do. Pray to God about all of the subjects in life and have faith in God not me that what I’m saying is correct. So do this, pray to God and ask him is it ok to drink, and if you know the answer is no and that God wouldn’t accept it, then the answer is no that it’s not o.k. To drink.

I don’t mean to offend anyone by saying these things and I want to say it in the most gentlest voice possible.

Church

Being a Christian means that you have to go to church every Sunday. It’s not something that should be played around with. God is the one who corrects us and we can have faith in him that the church will speak the truth. You have to find a good church though: not all churches are righteous and good in their ways. So be mindful of that.

I remember one time I was at work and I had just gotten off of church. I came into the Kmart and I had my church clothes and everyone was like why are you dressed up today? Someone said, “ mmhmm he just got off of church” so I said “yeah I did.” People looked at me because I was 17 at the time and they said, “your parents don’t let you choose to go to church?” So I said, “yeah, they let me choose but I choose to go.” Everyone looked at me all shocked because I chose to go to church. I didn’t understand it, but I knew that the reason why I didn’t understand it was because I was Christian, so then I started to think back to the days when I wasn’t passionate about God and I saw why they were shocked.
