How to become a Christian

Accept that Jesus Christ is your personal Lord and savior

A little backstory here. When Adam and Eve sinned for the first time, God had made a promise to come back for his people. The promise said that the rescuer was going to crush the head of the serpent but his heel would be wounded. The reason why this was so was because sin had come into man’s life and had separated man from God; however, God promises to reunite man with God once again because he loves us.

Flash forward a little bit. God had chosen the Jewish people to be his chosen people and he chose his people to walk a different way than the rest of the world; however, they could never do so. So God said to sacrifice a spotless lamb to take place for their sins. This was the only way that the Jewish people could get close to God. Then God said another promise, he said that one day he would send a lamb to forgive the sins of the whole world, forever.

Fast forward to Jesus: Jesus is that Lamb. Through prophecies, eyewitnesses, and the reading of scripture, we can safely know that Jesus was the lamb that God had sent to forgive our sins. Now, Jesus spoke these words and he said in John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, so that whosoever believes in him, should not perish but have everlasting life” So now all we have to do is believe in Jesus and he will save us from our sins.

The punishment for sin is eternal hell. It is not God’s will that anyone should perish, that’s in the Bible. But he will do what he has to if the people don’t listen. God is the one that judges. It is true that only God can judge; however, since only God can judge, shouldn’t that make you more fearful of him? Because his punishments are way worse than any punishment man could have. Anyhow, these are the reasons why we need Jesus, because he saves us from our sins which is going to lead us to hell.

Walk like Jesus

Now that you have Jesus in your heart, it’s important to behave the way that Jesus would want us to behave. We are called Christians for a reason, and that reason is to be a little Christ. That is what the word Christian means, little Christ. We are to imitate and live a life that Jesus would want us to live. What does that mean? Well, it could mean a lot of things. So, I will tell you this, pray to God to reveal to you what are the things that are acceptable to him and what things are not. Through prayer, reading the Bible, and going to church, you can safely know what is the perfect will of God.

I remember a few times I have been calling myself Christian; however, I don’t do Christian things. Do not get me wrong, I wish to serve the Lord day and night, 24/7 365 for the rest of my life; however, it’s difficult to be a perfect Christian. I wish that God would make me stronger so I can stand against the temptations of the devil.i have made up my mind that I will serve the Lord, so I will.
