Bible characters come in all shapes and sizes. There are big names like Jesus and then there are smaller names like the blind man who was healed by Jesus. Today I will tell you guys who is my favorite bible character.
Job
Besides Jesus, Job has to be my favorite bible character. There are many reasons: righteous, good, and served the lord are all qualities of job. When I read job, it was as if though a lot of my questions were solved. I loved the lessons that were in Job.
Job was righteous
The Bible said that there was a man who loved God and eschewed evil and that man was job. I really look up to him because in the Bible, Job was tempted by Satan; however, when Job was being tempted, it stood his ground on God and resisted strong even though his world was being turn upside down.
A little back story here; Job was a wealthy and good man who loved God; however, Satan believed that the only reason why Job was good to God was because God had been good to him. So, God let Satan tempt Job with a lot of horrible plagues; however, Job held his hope on God and through his patience and Gods strength he withstood the temptations of the devil.
Close to the end of the story it was Gods turn to speak to Job. Job at last finally cave in and started questioning God. He asked him stuff like why do bad things happen to good people and why was he being punished when he had done nothing wrong. The finally lesson was clear. But first let’s talk about Gods response
God had taken Job on a virtual tour of the whole world and started questioning job why certain things were that way: God asked Job why did lion eat the way that they did or if he was so good then why didn’t he answer the questions that Job was asking to himself. It was all a humbling thought to Job, and finally Job bowed down and said I don’t know Lord and I’m just a sinful man irregardless of how good he was and that no matter how great Job was, God was no substitute. That’s the lesson we should all take from this book. Job was a righteous and good man and God had let Satan tempt him, why? Because of Gods holy purposes. We just need to have faith in God at all times that the pain will last for a short time and God will prevail.
I remember one time I was going through a rough time, and I had asked myself why did God do this to me? What was the reason for my suffering? But then I told myself, “wait a minute, am I as righteous as Job?” No! Am I as good as Job? No. So whatever pain I was going through had to be justified because the actions that I do are unjustified and God still loves me.
Well guys I hope that I have given you guys a very valuable lesson in self pity. The next time we feel like we deserve more, remember that God deserves even more and we don’t give him the honor that he rightfully deserves. Till next time this has been German Gonzalez, signing out!
