All throughout my life, I had been sad. I never classified it as depression, until just recently. I always believed that people naturally feel this way, and I never knew that people are actually supposed to feel happy. I always thought that I was in the norm. So what happens is that just recently, I became happy. It wasn’t because of any medicine that I took; but rather, it was because I had been praying to God to allow me to be happy and sure enough I became happy. Here is my take on depression, Christianity, and happiness.
You need God in order to be happy
The world is full of things that are supposed to fill up your heart; however, none of them can truly satisfy the thirst that we have in our souls. The only thing that can satisfy that thirst is God. To me, Depression is caused when we don’t have God in our lives. It can also happen if we are Christian but we either don’t show it or we don’t treat God the way that God needs to be treated.
I remember I was one time in church and the preacher said to us that God is the source of all good, for without God there is nothing good in our lives. This statement is true because it’s in the bible. The bible is fact and not opinion. So if we can trust that God will be good to us, then we can trust that God will bring to us happiness. The other things in the world that are supposed to give you “happiness” are just distractions, empty bottles, and quite frankly perverse in their nature. When God gives you something good, his things are full of life and are good in nature.
God cures depression
You can either be suicidal, sad, cutting yourself, or whatever other thing that makes you depressed and God can cure it. God healed the lepers, gave Samson his strength, cast fire from heaven, and you don’t think that God could cure your depression? Well I’ll tell you something, He cured my depression. I thank God and God alone for curing my depression. No doctor, no nurse, no therapist, no parent, family member, or friend. It was God who cured my depression.
Well guys that’s it for this blog post. I hope that I have given you guys some direction as to what you should do if you have depression. Here is a big disclaimer. It takes time to heal a broken heart and even though God could snap you out of your depression the day that you ask him to, it might take you time to actually get out of your depression. Thank you guys for listening to me, May God bless all of you, and I’ll see you next time. May God bless all of you.
