Being a Christian means that you forget your earthly desires and focus on the heavenly, righteous, holy, and Godly things that God wants you to focus on. It means setting yourself aside from the rest of the crowd and being the difference in the world. Being a holy man or woman is a matter of getting to know God on a personal level. It includes a lot of prayer, what else is new, and a lot of commitment to going to church and reading your bible. Let’s go over how we can live as Christians.
Be Holy
What does the word holy mean? It means to set aside yourself. Basically, we call God Holy because he is different and separate from us sinful man, it’s true. God is good all the time; we’re not good. God is powerful in every aspect; we are not. In every sense, God is much better, justified, perfect, and infinitely infinite than us.
So, we must learn to be Holy. As Christians, we are called to be and live a holy life. What does that include? It means not submitting to the daily sin that the rest of this world submits to. God knows we have sin and we are going to sin a lot in our lives, but that doesn’t mean that we should live a life full of sin. This means that we should aim to be a sin free as possible.
What classifies as sin? Well there’s a whole lot of things that classify as sin. An example of sin would be getting drunk. Getting drunk is not o.k. It is something that God frowns upon and in reality it could harm us. Now the question is this, is it o.k. to drink? We can go all day and night discussing whether or not drinking is alright; however, the best approach to someone who doesn’t know if drinking is alright, is to pray to God and ask him for direction. Ultimately no one can change your mind except God, so ask God for help. Have faith in God that the answer that he gives you is correct because whatever God says is law.
Listen to God
When we listen to God, our lives will change for the better. God will give us what we need in our lives and more. How do we listen to God? By reading his word and submitting to him on a daily basis.
I remember when I was in my youth and I would be trying to listen to God as if though he was going to speak to me with a voice. God does speak; however it’s in a still small voice that God speaks. We have to learn to identify God’s voice because God is the one that will guide us to the right place.
