Loving your enemies entails an act of love that only comes from God. By being sinners, we become enemies of God because our sin nature separates us from God. When Jesus was instructing the people, he said “love thy enemies, bless those that curse you, pray for those who wrongfully abuse you and let it be known that you are the children of God.” This is how we should act.

Bless those that curse you

This is a tricky one because it’s not saying that you let people walk all over you; however, it does say to bless those that curse you. Let me put it to you like this: There was an analogy that Jesus spoke to the people about the virgins that were wise and the virgins that were unwise.

The virgins that were wise took oil with them so they can see at night and the unwise did not and when it was time to use the lamps, the unwise asked the wise to share their oil and the wise said no or else there wouldn’t be enough for them. So, the unwise went and bought the oil; however, it had grave consequences for doing so. My point is this, the wise said no to the unwise and they were called wise. Why? It didn’t say ungodly, it didn’t call them unjust. It called them wise. Doing the right thing can sometimes be painful and doing the right thing can sometimes look bad. So, don’t let people walk all over you, but do bless those that curse you. Give food to those that hurt you and pray for them.

For the longest time I struggled with this one because I always believed that it was okay for people to walk all over you because you were Christian.

Well that’s it for right now guys, I hope that I could shed some light on this topic. Be sure to like, share and subscribe more blog posts coming up. Till next time, this has been German Gonzalez saying God bless you all, signing out too!
