As Christians, we are in the world, but we are not a part of it. God is the one who is providing for us: spiritually, physically, and emotionally. This is why we must learn to separate ourselves from the rubbish. What is rubbish? Well rubbish is trash, dirt, debris that gets in the way. Let’s talk about this a little bit.
What is rubbish in the spiritual sense?
Now let’s talk about Christianity and rubbish. As Christians, we should separate ourselves from the rubbish that the world brings. This world has a lot of things that are designed to separate ourselves from God. So, we must keep those things far away from our hearts, minds, and bodies. What are some things that can separate ourselves from God? Well drugs or alcohol (This includes marijuana) are some of those things, lust is another big one, affairs, money, greed, music, parties, almost anything can and will make you turn away from God if you let it.
Let’s take college for example. Did you know that most college students will never return to church after graduating college? That’s a big statistic because it is basically saying that college can separate you from God. I don’t like that! Wherever there is knowledge or wisdom, there should be a big Godly presence in that area because God is instruction, wisdom, and intelligence. I know for a fact that you can have intelligence but lack wisdom. Which is why I hate the fact that most college students won’t return to their churches after college. To people who are uneducated or unwise, wisdom and intelligence are the same thing. However, we should know that wisdom and intelligence are two very DIFFERENT things.
How can I separate myself from the rubbish?
How do you do this? By abiding in God. Simple right? What does abide mean? Abiding means to never leave the side of God. Abiding means to dwell, live, be in the presence of God. If you’re going out drinking with some friends, it is hard to abide in God when you are drunk downing your bottle of vodka. Or how about if you are sleeping with new girls every night, that’s not abiding in God. God would want us to marry someone if we can’t contain our bodies. That is the holy way to go about being with a girl.
All in all, we should learn to abide in God first and then get rid of our rubbish. Some people can do both at the same time, however, we should not get rid of the things of our flesh first without God because we are too weak to do something like that. God has to be the one helping us out because he is stronger than our sin. Thank you all for listening in on this one. Pray, read your bible, go to church, Love God, and I’ll see you all next time.
