The answer to this question is it depends. God can call you to do a wide array of jobs. Whether that’s being in the military or serving as a preacher, God has no limits as to where he can put you in the world. If you are destined to become a preacher, then you will hear the call of God and you will adhere to it. Being a preacher is a big thing and not everyone is called to do so. King David in the bible used to want to make a temple for God, however, God said no because David had too much blood on his hands because David was a warrior. So, like a good servant of God, David adhered to what God had said. Let’s go over what are some tell signs that you should become a preacher.
If you seek God at all times
If you are constantly praying to God, reading your bible, going to church on a consistent basis, and asking God to make you a preacher, then I would safely assume that you are one of the few that are chosen to preach the word of God in a church. Being a preacher is a calling. You have to be called to do so. IF your heart is not in the right place to do so, then it would be best if you didn’t. The reason for this is because your calling will keep you going at night when things get rough. Your calling will guide you to the right answers because while you’re a preacher, you will encounter difficult questions that need to be answered.
If you are always looking at ways to become a preacher
If you are always looking at becoming a preacher, then I think that the preaching bug has bit you. I am a musician and I know that God as called me to be a musician. Why? Well God has given me multiple musical things that would allow me to create music. He has made me an excellent musician, he has given me a love for music, and I constantly pray to God about my music, I really want him to be blessed by my music. I had asked God early in my years to make me a great musician and God has done so. He would NOT have done it if it was going to be for vain purposes. He knows that I aim to give that back to him because I love God more than music. Likewise, if you really want to become a preacher, God will make it clear to you how you will become one. He will give you the gift to study hard and listen to other people. He will give you a church and he will provide for you at all times.
If you’re not consistently looking for ways to serve God and preach his word to other people, then it would be safe to assume that you are not called to be a preacher. Some people pray to become soldiers, some people pray to become teachers, I prayed to become a musician, and now what, have you prayed to become a preacher? No? Well it’s never too late to start.
