I get asked this question a lot, mainly by atheists, but why do bad things happen to me when I’m good? This question might pop up in your mind every once in a while and I must admit, I think this thought sometimes too. So, what does the bible teach us about these kind of lessons in life? What are we to learn? Of course we’re supposed to have faith in God throughout all of our troubles, but we must also understand it in our own sense because we humans are just incapable of understanding some of the wisdoms of God. With that in mind let’s dive into this topic.

Jesus was good

Jesus is the perfect son of God. Jesus is the messiah, the lamb, the lion, and he is good. That does not mean that bad things couldn’t happen to him. Bad things did happen to him. His people denied him, he was beaten and whipped, and at the end he died on the cross. If Jesus’ life was like that, how can we expect our lives to be a walk in the park? Nott one of us is perfect and each one of us deserves to die on the cross. However, we don’t die on the cross because God promised that the lamb would pay for all of our sins. God blesses us every day because we need it.

This was answered before in the old testament

Many times in the Old Testament did the bible speak of how God is just. God rewards the good and punishes the evil, that’s what the bible says in the Old Testament. However, in Job, something strange happens. God allows evil to happen to a justified, good man. This doesn’t make any sense and when people claimed that Job had been evil in some way, God got angry at them because they didn’t understand God. What we need to understand from this book is that God has a purpose for everything, including our suffering. There are some dark things, including our suffering that can be for good. Even in Ecclesiastes did the verse say that through sorrow the heart is made wiser. So, we don’t know what the pain is for but we must understand that it is holy and has a rightful place in this world.

I really like the book of Job, it solves a lot of questions that I need answered. I am by no means a preacher, so consult with your preacher about the things that I have said. But for what I’ve been told, that’s pretty accurate. God has a purpose for everything and since God is good all the time, we can be sure that God will guide us throughout the mess that we lay ourselves in. Do not ever say that you are tempted of God because God does not tempt people. But rather just embrace the fact that God is good to you.

Thank you all so much for listening, read the bible, go to church, pray, and above all love God. Till next time, this has been German Gonzalez, signing out.
