Church! Easy answer right? But alas young Christian, the answer is so much more than that. I know what you’re thinking, “German, the church is the safest place to learn about God, why would you want to deviate from it?” Well, sometimes churches don’t give you the Godly answer. Sometimes the right answer is only found by reading the bible and praying. Let’s talk about where to seek biblical guidance.
Through God himself
When we pray to God, we need to hear his voice. God does not speak in a loud and pounding voice. God speaks in a still small voice. In that still small voice is where we hear the instructions that God wants us to do. The instructions of life, the wisdom of God, the know how to achieve whatever it is that we were destined to do on this earth. God can call you to do a wide array of jobs and whether or not you like it, you have to do it. So, in order for us to accept what God is doing in our lives, we must pray to him on a daily basis. We must pray and continue to seek his wisdom and guidance. The plan that God has for us is greater than any plan that the world could ever give us.
Through his word
If we read the bible, we can identify what are some of the things that God has for us. Say for example if we are deciding whether or not drinking is o.k. for Christians. In the New Testament it says to be of sober mind. This gives us the instruction to not drink. What about the instruction to not curse. The New Testament specifically states to not curse because how can a Christian who speaks blessings utter curses as well? It just can’t happen. Reading the bible might not give you more intimate things that you need to consult with like how praying would consult you or instruct you but it is still a reliable source of education.
Through his preaching
Once you have identified what is good and acceptable to God, you must go and find a church that preaches what God teaches. You must use God’s wisdom and God’s guidance to determine what church is good or not because God will never fail you, however, you can fail yourself so don’t trust in yourself but trust in God.
Biblical guidance is what we need most. God often times compares humanity to sheep. What do sheep do? Sheep go wherever someone leads them, they are not the smartest and they are defenseless. Who guides the sheep? The shepherd. Who is our shepherd? It is God. Jesus was oftentimes called the good shepherd. Also, the shepherd is the one that cares about his sheep and we know that God cares about us. Thank you all for listening to this blog post. Read your bible, go to church, pray on a daily, and love God. German Gonzalez, signing out.
