Now before you click away from this blog post and say that this dude is one of those crazy Christians, I want to explain myself. What does fearing God mean? Where does fearing God come from? How are we to fear God? I plan on answering all of these questions and hopefully go into a little bit more detail as to what God says about these things. So, without further ado, here is my take on what fearing God means.
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge”
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, says proverb. But what exactly does that mean? Fearing God is not having a sort of fear that you would fear a lion, even though he is the lion of the tribe of Judah. You should not fear God that way, instead, you should fear God as if though he was authority, because he is. Imagine your parents, you fear them because they can whoop you, likewise, if you don’t listen to God, God can whoop you, but sin itself will bring its own consequences to your lack of faith in God. God is authority, God is rules, God is love, which is the reason why we need to know more of God because we don’t want to break his rules. The reason why it says in the bible to fear God is because by fearing God, you have energy to do the right things. If you don’t fear God, then that sort of memory or thought will never cross your mind. God is good and God is love but he also gives us rules to abide by and if we don’t abide by those rules, then consequences will happen.
Fearing God is power
When you fear God, his power will be with you. What does that mean? It doesn’t mean that you’re going to become president of the USA or maybe become a rock-star, no it means that God’s power, which is holy, will be with you according to your will. When you fear God, you become a hard worker, intelligent, wise, strong, God himself and his power is with you. You tell me the last time a doctor had little power. Doctors have a lot of power and if you do the things that God says to do, then being a doctor will in turn be a blessing and not a curse. Take for example me, I’m not a doctor, but I fear God and therefore his power is with me. I have asked God to make me a musician and he has, that is power! He has given me what I wanted and not a lot of people can say that they play guitar the same way that I play guitar or sing. I also ask God for jobs, he gives them to me. I ask God for food, he gives that to me. I ask God for help in my music adventure, which I’m planning on using it for God, and he helps me. God is the one that is helping me and his power dwells with me.
Overall, fearing God is a good thing, it’s not like I fear God as if I fear chuckie the diabolical doll, or even fear him like a lion. But I fear God as if though he is authority, because he is. I fear God as well not just because it would be healthy for me, but because his powerful power will dwell with me. His power to live and thrive and just be a good thing in this world is what makes me keep going at night.
Thank you all for listening again. Pray, read your bible, go to church, and above all love God. I will see you all next time. German Gonzalez, signing out.
