Temptations, they’re not just a band. Temptations can harm us in many ways. Temptations have the tendencies to allure our bodies into doing something that we will regret later. It’s not a question of will we regret it, but rather, it’s a matter of when we will regret it. Sometimes we regret it instantly. Other times it takes a while for us to process what we regret. Today let’s talk about what to do about temptation and how we can fight it. This isn’t for the weak at heart so be strong.

Avoid temptation at all cost

If you know that something will cause you to be tempted, then your best bet is to avoid it all together. If you are provoked by images, then avoid those images. If an emotion provokes you, then avoid that emotion. Whatever it is that tempts you, do not say to yourself that you will be stronger than sin because sin is indeed powerful and can change us instantly.

I one time was in a bar, which I don’t recommend, and I said to myself as my friends were drinking the night away, I said, “what am I doing here?” I’m going to lose myself and who I am just by being here. I shouldn’t be here. My friends don’t invite me to the bars anymore but to be honest with you, if I could I would. I know it’s wrong and I should not do that, but I don’t know. It’s like I now see what my sin nature does to me by going to these bars. I’ll be honest with you, the reason why I go, is because I feel alone. When my friends invite me, I feel like I have company, I have been alone for almost all of my life and now that someone actually wants to talk to me, it makes me happy, I don’t have to be alone for once. That is the reason why I go to the bars. I honestly do not want to go to the bars, but I go because there are friends who just want to chill, talk, and socialize. It’s comforting.

I have prayed and prayed to God to give me good Christian friends and so far, I can never seem to find any. There was one good friend in high school, but she was a girl and she wasn’t Christian. I didn’t want to hang out with her too much because I felt like I would get attached to her if I did, and I didn’t want to be with someone who wasn’t Christian. She was so friendly though and she was awesome, we don’t talk anymore but I know what a true friend looks, talks, and walks like. So anyways, I have experienced friendships before. I have experienced good friendships. Friendships that are just awesome but it’s rare to find those.

What does God call us to do?

In essence, God calls us to do our best at whatever we do. Whether it’s working out, or conquering our own sin. God calls us to be a holy people. Being holy means to separate yourself from the rest. How do you do that? By doing the things that God has said for us to do. God is the one who helps us to do these tasks. If we fail, we fail knowing that God will be the one victorious. God always wins and we can have faith in that.

I hope that I have inspired you guys. God is always right and even though we fail, God already knew we would. So, do your best but don’t kill yourself just because you didn’t do the right thing. God is the one who will pick up the pieces. Thank you all for listening in on this blog post.
