Christian Beliefs

Christians live with God, so it’s important to understand our belief system. Believing in God is just one aspect of the whole system and ultimately it’s what we lean on in times of trials and tribulations. In times of uncertainty and confusion or maybe we just need a little direction, we need God. There are a certain set of beliefs that every Christian should believe in. Let’s talk about a few of these, shall we?

We need Jesus

            Jesus said it the best with his parable. He said that he is the vine and we are the branches, and that the branches cannot live without the vine or else it will die. So, we need Jesus in our lives as desperately as we need air to breathe. Jesus is the one who gives us power, he gives us strength, wisdom, knowledge, he provides for us, he makes us someone worth looking at. These are just some of the reasons why we need Jesus in our lives.

We need to be faithful to him

            When I say we need to be faithful to God, I mean that we need to seek him out at all times. We cannot just seek him one day and abandon him the next, we need to constantly have him on our minds and always want to strengthen our relationship with him.

            I remember when I first became Christian, oh how strong of a Christian I was. I would go up to everyone and talk to them about God. I would bring a bible into school. I would pray at lunch. God was my God. But after everyone started to make fun of me, I just left it alone, I know some Christian right? Well I grew up and I realized that those people who made fun of me, didn’t really matter in the first place because they didn’t go out and do the things that I was doing. They weren’t the ones who lived the life that I lived, so God was the one who was taking care of me not them. Anyways, the point is to be faithful to God, if you’re faithful to him, he’ll be faithful to you.

Believe in prayer to God

            I say believe in prayer to God because some people pray and they don’t pray to God. Who do you pray to then? If you pray, it’s to someone who is stronger than you. Praying to God is what answers your life’s questions. God has the ability to make your life something worth living. So, pray to God, and he will answer. I know that it’s difficult to wait for him, however, it’s so worth the time and effort to wait on the Lord because in the end, the Lord’s timing is the best timing.

Believe in his word

            When we read the word of God, we have to take it like it is. There is no if and’s or but’s involved. There is a verse in the bible and Jesus is the one who said this. He said, my sheep hear my voice and they come to me. This is so true because whoever loves God, will find the truth wherever it is. No matter how deep the truth is buried, it will always appear. So, believe in his word and seek his word on a daily basis to really commit to him.

Believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ

            What does it mean to believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus? Does it mean knowing that it really happened? Or is it something more? To me, believing that Jesus died and resurrected means that I had sin and I needed saving from hell. I mean what was the reason for Jesus’ death anyways? It was because This world was lost and needed saving and God had mercy on us and decided to send his perfect lamb to die for us. The death that we all deserved was given to the perfect Lamb of God, which was his son.

            Believing in the death and resurrection is also knowing that it really did happen. There was a man named Jesus who really did get crucified and he really did rise from the dead. Believing in that fact is just another aspect towards the belief in the death and resurrection of Jesus.

Abandoning your earthly desires

            When we become Christians, we need to forsake the old path and pursue the new path. The path that is on the straight and narrow, the path that leads to life instead of death. This is why we need to abandon our earthly desires.

            I am a personal testimony that says that leaving your earthly desires behind can be done. I’m not going to describe what I used to do, however, I can tell you that the things that I did were very difficult to get out of. The good Lord makes it possible for you to get out of those things. There is even a verse in the bible that says, we must die daily. What does that verse mean? It means that our earthly bodies must die on a daily basis so that way our spirit can live.

 All of proverbs

            What does proverbs teach us? It teaches us to work hard, look for Godly things, listen to our parents, and find good people. Proverbs has such wisdom that is not found on this earth. If you go to one of your friends who doesn’t have God at their side, they will tell you that listening to your parents is a horrible idea. What kind of knowledge is that? It’s not good knowledge. You need to listen to your parents on a daily basis because listening to them, is like listening to life.
