I know for me I say that I want God and I sincerely try and do what he says, but it’s like I don’t give him a sincere chance in my life. Even though God is working in my life regardless of whether or not I am praying or going to church or even reading the bible, I still don’t give God his much deserved chance so he can start to change my life around. What does Giving God a chance mean? It means committing to God. Let’s talk about giving God a chance in our lives, shall we?

We need to grow with him

When we accept Jesus into our lives, we immediately become saved from hell. That is the exact opposite of what the devil wishes from us. So, the devil can no longer stop us from going to heaven, but now his goal becomes to stop us from growing with God. As Christians, we should be aware of all of the things that the devil can do to us. We shouldn’t be ignorant and pretend like everything is going to be alright. We have to actually take precautions and fight the good fight when it’s necessary.

Here’s an example: I know that I have a problem with music. I listen to the wrong types of music whenever I feel a certain way, so I must be honest with myself and say o.k. the limits are that I cannot feel that way anymore because then I am dishonoring God. So, I now I have made the commitment to never feel those types of ways ever again. I know that it’s an impossible task, however, I will always do my best to not submit myself to those types of feelings.

If I do feel those types of feelings, then I will stop myself from listening to those types of music by reminding myself that the Holy Spirit would be grieved if I did listen to that type of music.

This is just an example of how we grow with God. Furthermore, we need to submit to God daily in order for our spirit to be strong. What does that mean? To me it means doing all of the things that Christians should do. Worship, rejoice in the Holy Spirit, pray, read the bible, go to church, love God above all else, listen to the Holy Spirit, etc. etc. which brings me to my next point

Listen to the Holy Spirit

Whenever we hear in our head that something is wrong and needs to be corrected, whenever we know that something is not holy, whenever God is speaking to our hearts about a matter, we know that the Holy Spirit is working in us. It’s an intimate thing to listen to the Holy Spirit because different things mean differently to different people. Not every person is the same, so the Holy Spirit convicts us of different matters in our lives all the time. I probably have a different thing convicting my heart right now than the rest of you guys, we could have the same thing convicting our hearts. Whatever the Holy Spirit is convicting your life about, you need to go ahead and address it.

We need to listen to his voice on a daily basis

If we want to hear the voice of God, why don’t we pray to him and ask him to reveal what he has for us. God is good and he understands just how lost we really are, so hearing the instruction of the good shepherd is something that is absolutely needed in our lives. Remember this though, God speaks in a still small voice. He is always there wanting for us to go to him, so chase him because he is nothing but good to us, he loves us more than a mother or father, he treats us better than anyone on this earth would treat us, and he has endless amount of wisdom to give to us.

Worship God

Worshipping God is much more than just singing to him. Sure music is an essential part of worship because now we are glorifying his name through an art, however, it involves more than just that.

When it’s your birthday, your parents and friends all go out and they celebrate another year that you have lived, they are honoring you because they feel like you deserve that much. Well, God deserves that much all the time. God deserves worship from us because he is worthy! There is not much else to describe it, he is worthy. You all have heard of all the marvelous things that God can do. He parted the red sea, he healed the lame, he healed the lepers, he made fire rain down from heaven, he gave Samson his strength, and God has many other things that he can do, he is limitless. This is why he is worthy. So, worshipping can include praising him with your mouth, glorifying him, etc. etc.

So why don’t we give God a chance?

The answer is simple, because we are man and we choose evil rather than good. If we want to give God a chance but never seem to go through with it, then it’s time to pray for him and ask for his holy intervention to come into our lives and change our lives. We need to ask God to give us the strength to give him a chance because we need strength in order to do something holy like that.

Thank you all for listening in on this blog post. Be honest with yourself, don’t say it to anyone else, but be honest with yourself and say, “Have I really given God a chance?” Ask yourself, “Do I pray to him on a daily basis and worship him?” because if you’re not doing these minimal things, then it’s safe to say that we have not really given God a chance. God works and if you pray to him, he will work. You will see and you will know. Please read your bible, go to church, pray, and above all else, love God.
