I am by no means an old person, I’m 25. But I have advice that I would give to my kids and I wish to share it with you all. The Good Lord has blessed me with wisdom and intelligence and I know that my wisdom will be insightful to young folk who are going through a rough time. Anyways, here is my advice that I give to young people.
Love God above all else
When you love God, you are strong. The Good Lord is the one who fights your battles from now on and you will never be alone. Forever, your needs will be taken care of. Forever, you will know what love is. Forever, God will be the one governing your life and that is good.
What does loving God mean? It means reading your bible, going to church, obeying the commandments of Jesus, praying, loving your neighbor as yourself. All of these things show that you love God. If you choose to love God, God himself will bless you with work, food, clothes, a wife or a husband, a house, and so much more. God gives the life of a life time, so don’t ever look back when God has said so.
Never give up
When you are going through school or work or anything that you do in life, you have to put the commitment to yourself that you will not give up. Do not give up on your dreams, all of this has to do with staying close to God, but don’t give up on the fact that you want a high school diploma or a college degree. Don’t give up on the fact that you want to become a lawyer or a teacher. Chase what God has called you to do and pray about it because ultimately God will be the one to help you when times get hard.
Study hard
When you are a kid, your priority should be Church, family, and school. That’s it, you should focus on school because school opens up opportunities that are beautiful. If I had done well in my core classes, I would’ve gone to school for music and gotten my music degree. That would’ve been beautiful. I don’t care if there is no money in music, I want to be a musician, God will provide the money that is good for me.
I do plan on going back to college and getting my degrees but I have to focus this time. This time it’s my only shot and I’m not going to let myself down. I am going to study hard and I am going to get my degrees that is my goal.
Work hard
Everything that you do, work as if though you are working for the Lord. How great do you have to do things if you want God to enjoy it? God expects the absolute best from us and it’s only fair to God himself that we give him our absolute best.
I have a goal of making an album right now and I am working hard to make this album come true. I have a concept album ready and a few songs on the side but I am going to give it my all so that way God can enjoy it. Likewise, everything that you do, work hard as if though you are working for the Lord, this will give you strength to finish and commit to whatever it is that you are doing.
Do the things that you need to do and if time and God permits, do the things that you want to do
Often times, we do the things that we want to do. Maybe we have heard a misconception that our heart should rule our lives, but I’m sorry to break the news to you, it’s not always the case. “The heart is gravely ill…” it’s what the bible says. So, it’s okay to feel feelings of passion and happiness and sadness and grief, but you can’t let that govern your life. If you let your heart rule your life, then that will actually hurt you.
I remember when I was a kid in high school, I did whatever my heart wanted me to do. I thought this way because I thought that this manner of thinking was the good way of thinking. However, when I got older and I read that bible verse, I immediately regretted all of my high school decisions and I started to try and break the habit of doing the things that I liked and doing the things that I needed to do.
Love and be patient when it is the most difficult
If someone ever hurts you, just know that God will take vengeance on that person. Vengeance is the Lord’s, that’s what the bible says. So, don’t lash out, but rather, let the Lord work in your life and let him take vengeance. Never laugh when your enemies fall, less it displeases the Lord and he turns his wrath on you.
I remember that I used to have bully’s all the time in high school, middle school, and elementary school, and where are they now? Nowhere! I no longer have to worry about them because God has taken them away from my life. Either way, I don’t want to make fun of them because that is not Godly and God would rather that I show love towards them than to put hate in my heart.
Worry about nothing, and pray for everything
If you feel like you were called to be a soldier, if you feel like you were called to be a musician, if you feel like you were called to be a policeman or fireman, teacher, principal, lawyer, or businessman, whatever it is that is your calling, ask God to guide you towards the goal that you have in your heart. God can and he will do amazing things in your life. Don’t be afraid to ask God about your desires and commitments.
If you don’t have food, ask God for food. If you lack clothes, ask God for clothes. If you want a job or are looking for education, ask God for these things because God gives good things to those who ask for them.
Pray every day
Going to God on a daily basis for everything will only build your confidence in the Lord. Don’t be afraid to go to God for anything in life. If God wants you to do something, he will get you to do it. Though there may be differences in operations, it’s the same God that works them all in all. So, God will always win no matter what you throw at him.
