I know that it is intimidating confronting your preacher about the sin that you have committed over the week. However, it must be done. I’m not saying that you have to confront your preacher about your sin because you have to ask him for forgiveness, no that’s not what I mean. I am saying that you should confess your sin to the right person because it is doing something that God has asked us to do. The bible does say to confess our sins to one another. I am not saying that you are to go and tell everyone in the world what you do when you are alone. That’s not what I am saying either, but I am saying that you should confront the people who are responsible in your life and tell them what you have done. Anyways, let’s talk about some tips when confronting your preacher about your sin in your life. Shall we?

Think about what you are going to say before you say it

I can’t tell you how many times I have thought over what I want to say to someone and I said the right thing because I took my time to say what was needed to be said. The same thing applies to this sensitive topic. When going to your preacher, you should not let your emotions run wild. I know that sometimes our emotions play a heavy role in what we have done that is wrong, but we need to control ourselves and say things in a dignified and controlled manner.

Whenever I confess my sins to my preacher, I usually start my thought process with what do I want to tell him and what are the correct words to get my message across? I have been honest with my preacher about a lot of things, and the main reason why I am honest with him is because I want to get rid of that sin that I am holding on to. I do not want that sin separating me from God anymore, so that’s when I seek help.

Go to God about what you want to say

When in doubt, pray it out. Before you do anything sensitive, rather, before you do anything at all, you should go to God about what it is that you need.

Every time before I go to my preacher or to my mom, I always ask God what are the right words? What is it that I need to say? Are my words going to glorify him in the end? These are all important questions that require someone who has never messed up in their existence.

See if you can solve it out first

Whenever I want to get rid of a sin in my life, I always go to the people who love and care about me. However, I always do try and see if I can manage this sin on my own. There are some things that I can go to God with and it would be over like the next day

Example: When I was a kid, I cursed a lot, however, when I learned that God doesn’t want us to curse, I immediately prayed to God to help me stop. Sure enough, I stopped the very next day. I never went back on that word. Even though it does slip sometimes, like I can honestly say that I can count the amount of times that I have cursed in my life. I am proud of that.
