So, today the Lord led my preacher to preach about money. This is actually the first time in a while that I have gone to church and I actually really appreciated the lesson. There is also something else that needs to be said about money and this lesson though. I have actually prayed about the things that my preacher was preaching about. It’s like God wanted to answer my prayers through my preacher because sure enough he answered all of the questions that I had. I will be honest with you, the reason why I wanted to follow God in the first place was because I thought that he can provide everything that I need and want. I thought that with the Lord, I will never want anything. Sure enough, God has provided everything that I needed but not everything that I wanted. Anyways, let’s talk about money and Christianity
We need to have the proper perspective of money
So one of the things that my preacher said was that money does not necessarily mean holiness. Also, money does not necessarily mean wickedness. Poverty does not necessarily mean holiness. Poverty does not necessarily mean holiness. So, there comes out of these statements a few questions, the first, how can one be holy? Also, how can we live a life that glorifies God without being wicked because of money?
I believe that one becomes holy when we get close to God. I believe that the closer we are to God, the more holy we become. The answer does not lay with money, but rather, the answer lays with God. If we ask God to bring us closer to him and make us holy people, and you can be sure that God will do exactly that.
There was something interesting that the preacher said about money. He said that in the bible, money was more associated with sorrow than happiness. Also, with money comes a lot of carnal temptations, so it’s not good to have something that will bring you away from God. The main lesson is this, the love of money is the root of all evil. Money isn’t bad, and we all need money in order to survive and get through this life, but we can’t be greedy of gain or love money because then that is committing sin, sin which separates us from God.
The comparison that the preacher put
What would happen if you had Jesus at your dinner table? You had Jesus at your dinner table and someone knocks on the door. Would you tell Jesus, “hang on Jesus let me put you on pause for just a second and let me see who it is.”?
See when we let money govern our lives in the manner that the world often tells us to let it, then it’s like we tell Jesus to hold on for a second because I want to attend this worry. We cannot let Jesus be second place in our lives. Our worries, as bad as they are, have to be taken to God and left there for him to take care of it.
What do I think about all of this?
I believe that the preacher was preaching good things. There is a saying in the street that says, “more money more problems.” I have heard a lot of my friends say this statement and to be honest with you, I believe my preacher was preaching good things because even the world, as messed up as it is, believes what the Lord says. They don’t believe it because they believe in him, but rather, they believe in it because they have experienced it firsthand.
This is not the only reason why I believe in it. I have read the bible before and I have seen that the things that the preacher is saying is true. I know for a fact that the root of all evil is money that is something that is said in the bible. I know for a fact that proverbs says to not labor to be rich because riches make themselves wings and fly away. I know what Jesus said about money and I couldn’t agree more, he is my savior!
Anyways that’s my take on Christianity and money. I hope that you guys have learned something. God does not promise to give us what we want, but he does promise to give us what we need at all times. God knows our hearts, and it’s okay to pray to God about the things that we think we need, but remember that God’s will is going to be done before ours.
