Every family is unique and special in their own way. Therefore, you should have your very own unique and special way of praising God. You can worship God through prayer, song, writing, strength, wisdom, etc. etc. Below are some creative ways to devote yourself to the Lord. Let’s start.

Paint/draw/sketch for the Lord

  1. You can try and draw what is in the bible and sell it online
  2. You can make your art for charity
  3. You can just paint for the Lord
  4. When you draw/paint/sketch for the Lord and sell it online, you are now spreading the word of God to the world. Believe it or not, but your art will reach out and touch the lives of Christians, Atheists, Muslims, Buddhists, and everything in between.

-Making your art for charity is a special gift because it takes a special heart to take what you’ve made and give it away.

Your heart, love, charity, and ultimately commitment to God will be repaid through God so don’t give up hope even when things get rough

  • If you paint for the Lord just because you want to worship him, then God himself will be the one in charge of providing for you. Don’t fear about the bills, for God is here.

Music

  1. You could write songs for the Lord
  2. You could play music for the Lord
  3. You could worship the Lord through songs
  4. If you write music for the Lord, you should always look to the Lord for inspiration. Why? The reason is because ultimately, it’s the Lord who you’re trying to please.
  5. What do I mean by playing music for the Lord?I mean going out and singing in the church choir, singing the songs that the Lord has already made, and singing them in your spare time. If you’re a musician, this is a must.
  6. Singing for the Lord here means to anyone who isn’t a musician. We are talking about the Lord of Lord’s here, don’t you think that it is worth trying to sing to him? Of course it is.

Have a Christ themed family fun night

  1. Christ themed Charades
  2. Christ themed hang-man
  3. Christ themed Karaoke
  4. All of these games are loads of fun and karaoke will get the crowd pumping. My personal favorite is charades but that’s just me.

Have bible study except…

  1. At a restaurant
  2. At a park
  3. At a family members house
  4. My favorite by far is the restaurant. You get to show the world that you’re a Christian and you eat chicken sandwiches! I love going to restaurants because there is space and food. Also, it could spark up some conversation with other people in the area. You have no idea how many times someone random has come up to me and asked me what church I go to just by being myself.
  5. At a park is similar to at a restaurant except its BYOF (Bring Your Own Food). Make a barbeque, grill some steaks and hamburgers and have a good time.
  6. Last but certainly not least is another family member’s house. As your cousins to come over and have bible study so you can fellowship as well.

Write a family blog for the Lord

Of course the blogger is advocating writing in a blog. When you write in a blog, it’s like telling the Lord that he is on your mind. Why? Because a blog takes effort and time ti write in. Effort and time that could’ve perfectly went into something else.

I remember when I first started my blog, I had no idea where I was going, but all I wanted to do was write about God because he is the beat in my heart. Anyways, it took time and effort to make this blog happen, and I thank God, I am so thankful I have it.

Start a family spiritual journal

I started my spiritual journal a few weeks ago and I couldn’t be more grateful for it. I write everything God related in that journal, I’ve written songs, prayers, Sunday school lessons, spiritual things that happen in my life, etc. etc. At first it was a prayer journal and I was just writing prayers in it, but then I thought to myself, “well, I could write so much more in this journal if it was a spiritual journal.” so I started to write other spiritual stuff in that journal and sure enough it became a spiritual journal.

So back to the family spiritual journal. Once you start writing in this journal all of the things that you have in your mind, once you start writing down and seeing what your kids write down, maybe you could help them with some things, maybe God is leading you to do other things with your family. Maybe the Lord is just developing your family to be a more Christian house hold, who knows? The Lord that’s who knows.

Pick a family charity

If you have a charity that all of your family supports, then it would be easier to be able to help that charity because now not one person is doing the charity but rather, a whole family is.

I remember my sister, with the little money that she had, she would donate it to a charity supporting orphans all around the world. She would send money, gifts, books, clothes, medicine, etc. etc. to these kids and she never once looked back and said that was a waste. Why? Because it is something Godly. It is something that God wanted her to do.

The same with a family charity. Pick a charity that you have researched and support, and then donate, give effort, put in your blood sweat and tears into the charity and sure enough it will be God who rewards you for your efforts and your family’s too.

Having morning, afternoon, and evening prayer together

Pray even when the rain pours on outside. Pray even when it is most difficult for you to pray. Even Jesus once said, “Wherever there is two of you, I will be there among you.” Jesus was trying to say that Jesus would be listening in on every conversation that we have because we need Jesus to listen to every conversation that we have.

I remember back in the day, we used to have morning and evening prayer. My family and I would gather around before we would head off to work or school and we would pray for the day ahead. Then at night, my family and I would gather round and pray for a safe night. There are many uncertainties that occur during the day that we need to pray to God for. So, we need to pray in the morning. There are many dangers that occur during the night, so we have to pray to God for protection. Anyways you get the picture.

Work for the Lord together

When you work, work as if though you are working for the Lord. Is that not in the bible? So, why not work in those things together with the family? If you ever have assignments from work or school that you need to get done together, do them together with the family. First pray and gives thanks to God for the moment of fellowship that you’re about to have, and then get started on whatever it is you need to get started on.

I remember back when I was in elementary school, I would pray to God often to make me a smart person. I prayed and I prayed and sure enough God made me one of the smartest kids in my class. However, I started out by doing my homework in front of my older sister and my mom. My little sister was too young to understand what 3 times 3 was so I never counted her in on any of the work that I was doing. But I did the work in front of them and sure enough, I came out to be the smartest kid in my class.

Moving forward

There are loads of activities that you can do with your family. The point is to go out and find them. Devote yourself and your family to the Lord and the Lord will be the one to guide your footsteps. The point is to get started, which is oftentimes the most difficult thing to do, so get started.
