Tips from a soldier of Christ to new recruits

Haha, I am just poking around fun right there. However, I truly am a soldier of Christ and I truly do have some insightful tips to all of the new Christians out there. When we become a Christian, we join this battle that has lasted throughout the ages. The battle between good and evil. It is not us against politics, it’s not us against someone, it’s not us against anything except the world. We should know that this battle that we join, we join in the perspective of how we should help and save people. Well, maybe I should be more specific, we don’t save people, but rather, God saves people and we are just the messenger. Anyways, let me share with you some tips to all of you new Christians out there, let’s start.

You have to be close to God

            So, without God, we are powerless. Jesus said it the best when he said, “I am the vine and ye are the branches, for without me ye can do nothing.” This verse shows just how desperately we need the Lord Jesus at our side. It also shows just where our power comes from.

            I remember when I was in high school, I was doing my best to change everyone who I deemed as a sinner. I was looking all over my school and I had no idea that I needed to change first before I could change anyone else. However, that does not mean that I can change anyone, but rather the Holy Spirit who guides and moves people will be the one to change the people.

            I didn’t realize that being close to God meant that I had to pray daily, read my bible, go to church, and give God my best every single day. However, that will not stop me from doing so in the future.

Don’t give up

            I know that the night seems long and the battle is hard. However, living the life of a sinner is harder. Trust me when I say that living a Christian life will have it’s ups and downs but it’s nothing compared to the life of a sinner.

            I remember one time I was complaining to my mom about my life. I couldn’t believe that I was complaining because in all honesty, I don’t have anything to complain about. However, I started to complain and she said you know that your life may seem hard, but it’s nothing if you weren’t close to God.

            I looked at myself and I said, “You know I don’t know what it’s like to not have God” I’ve always had God at my side and I’ve never forgotten about him. That night, I fell on my knees and I started to pray to God and I said, “Lord never let me stray from you, I always want to be right next to you because you are good.” I don’t know if this prayer has come true just yet because I haven’t gone through life yet, but God will know when to reward me with the things that I need.

You don’t have to be perfect, just do your best

            I am by NO means perfect, nor do I pretend to be. If I were perfect I would have everything that I ever wanted in life, but anyways let’s go on. I am not perfect but I do my best to give God what he deserves every single day. God deserves our everything because he is worthy of all praise.

            In the bible, there was a verse that had a woman who was poor. She was poor and she threw in the offering plate her pennies  and so Jesus said, “behold this woman has given more than any man in here for out of her penury she decided to give to God.” What happened was that at that time there were a lot of rich men who were giving to the offering, and so that is what Jesus said.

            I am by no means a perfect songwriter, but I give God my songs because I want to worship him with everything that I am. I am a songwriter, I am a musician, I am a guitarists, I am a singer, and so I need to give God all of these things because he is worthy of praise.

Be you in Christ

            So what does this mean? In the bible it clearly states that when we receive Jesus into our lives, the old man is dead. The old man is put away, and now the new man has risen. Jesus puts in us a different person. One that has changed and is loving towards God.

            I remember that I’ve always had God, however, when I started to take God seriously, I changed things about myself so that I can better serve God. I started to not curse, I started to sing Christian songs, I started to just live my life for Christ.

            These new changes in my life were not my doing, but rather, they were God’s doings. God’s will for my life was changing who I am so that way God can be glorified through it all.

Conclusion

            So, all in all I feel like these are some tips that would help out a new Christian. When you become a Christian, Satan can’t stop you from going to heaven, but now Satan is going to stop you from growing. Don’t let Satan stop you from growing in Christ. Being a new Christian is an exciting time! You now have hope and passion for the Lord and are willing to serve him with all of your heart, it’s exciting! But I must warn you that it is difficult to be a human period. But we must fight the good fight so that way, we can lay our treasures in heaven and God can be glorified.
