The short answer: to worship God! The long answer, I wanted to have a creative outlet to share the things that God has placed in my heart. I am a Christian musician, so along with those creative Christian things, I decided to write my songs for the Lord. I write Christian music not because it will bring money or fame or whatever the thing is, but I write Christian music to praise the Lord. This blog is in direct relation to the way that I write my music. Anyways, here are a few reasons as to why I started writing in this Christian blog, let’s start.
I get to say what I want without boundaries!
Well of course I say things within reason! Haha! I write things that I want to write about and I hope that I get the audience that I so wish to obtain. I know that in this world there would be a lot of people who would disagree with what I have to say, however, I will not let that stop me from writing about God.
I remember back when I started writing in this blog, I was actually torn between two worlds. I wanted to produce music for hip-hop artists. You know basically create beats for rappers, and I started a blog about music to go along with my Christian blog. I have the skills to create music, it’s just a matter of practice and perfecting it. Anyways, I started the music blog because I wanted to make money from my music! Is that so wrong? I wanted to make money from my music, but I didn’t really know the cost that it would take to get there.
So, being a hip-hop producer means that you have to listen to music that has a lot of cursing and vain things. You have to put up with people who don’t really like God or want God. I’m not saying that every hip-hop artist out there is like that, but a great majority are. Anyways, I wanted to become a hip-hop producer because it would bring in money. I wasn’t trusting in God!
Fast forward to about a month and a half after I started the blog, I realized the reality of being a hip-hop producer and I realized that it’s just not possible to be a Christian and a hip-hop producer at the same time. If you really want to become a good producer, then you really do have to listen to all of the music that comes along with it.
Anyways, what does that have to do with what I’m talking about here? As a music blogger, I had to watch carefully as to what I had to say because if I said something religious or wrong, then I would be sort of “blacklisted” by a lot of rappers that were supposed to be my clients!
Here on this blog, I have the freedom to talk about what I want to talk about, when I want to talk about, and how I want to talk about it. There is no limit as to the sky that I can reach with this blog! Within reason of course!
I get to share my music with the world
I actually am a songwriter and I’ve always thought to myself that I need to have an audience to market my music to. After getting a few followers on this blog, I’ve started to take my songwriting career a lot more seriously. I know I’m not getting the massive amount of traffic that I was hoping on getting right off the bat, but I am getting some traffic and it’s causing me to be so happy!
I bought this book a long time ago about how to create lyrics, and I’ll be honest with you, I’ve read part of the book but I’ve never finished it. I’ve never finished all of the exercises that come along with the book. However, now that I’m songwriting for a living, I think that it behooves me to write every day and do the exercises that it tells me to do. I have written in this blog almost every day for 6 months and it has been a blast, I love it!
I practice my writing skills
I have always wanted to write for something. Whether that be for a blog, or an article, or something! I’ve always wanted to write for a living, I don’t know I guess I’m just attracted to things that don’t make so much money! Haha!
Anyways, practicing my writing skills gets me prepared for the real world. Ever since my boss has assigned me to write in the blog for the company, I have just been writing and writing and having a lot of fun doing it all the while!
I get to develop my voice
The more I write, the more I see what my writing style is like. I get to write in a voice that is unique to myself. I don’t let anyone else tell me what to write about, I do it all myself.
I get to worship God
Ultimately this is my end goal. The only thing that I want from this life is to worship the Lord with everything that I am. This blog is in direct relation to my goal in life. I had an uncle who at one point in his life wrote AGAINST the Lord. However, the Lord opened his eyes and now that same uncle is a preacher.
Anyways my point is this, people use their talents against the Lord but the Lord can use it for his own purposes.
In conclusions
So, all in all, I write for a wide variety of things. To develop my writing skills to doing my ultimate dream, which is to worship the Lord with everything that I am. I hope that I have encouraged you guys to go out and write a blog about God because God is so worth it.
