I am free

There is no other way to put it. I am a free man now that I have Christ with me. Before I was a slave to my very own sin nature. Before, I had no hope in me because my chains were just too heavy. Now, the Lord has graciously given me light in my eyes and hope in my heart to do the things that would bring glory to him. Let me share with you all how the Lord has made me free.

I am free from my sin

            The bible says that, “He who believes is not condemned but he who believes not is condemned already, for he has not believed in the name of the only begotten son of God.” Jesus said those words and it’s true. In order to really appreciate what this is saying we must look at a few bible passages.

            In the bible after Adam and eve sinned against God, the Lord explicitly states that he will avenge the sin that man has committed by providing a savior for mankind. However this savior would pay a price for saving the world and it would be a great price.

            When Adam and eve sinned against God, that put a curse on us man and now we have to work hard for all of the things that we do because our own sin nature’s consequences is that. Another consequence of our sin nature is that we will die in the end. So ultimately, our sin nature separated us from God.

            Fast forward a little bit to Moses’ time. God gave laws to his chosen people. Laws that would benefit them and make them prosper, however, None of the Israeli’s could follow them, so God made another promise and he said, that man cannot do the laws which he put and God remembered his covenant with mankind and said that there would be a redeemer one day.

            The purpose of God’s laws was to bring the people closer to God, and sure enough God’s way was perfect. If you committed a sin, then you would have to take one of your perfect 1 year old lamb and sacrifice it to God. That was the way to become redeemed, however God saw that it was basically impossible for man to follow his laws, so, he remembered his covenant with mankind and was always working for us.

            The lamb is the perfect offering for God. God said that there would be a perfect lamb that would cover the sins of all the world for all of their lives.

            Fast forward to Jesus times. Jesus is the perfect lamb. Through Jesus we have hope. We have hope that no matter what sin we do, we know that it is covered because the perfect lamb was slain for us. Us man who didn’t deserve a life with God, us man who is filthy from birth, can now be with a God who is perfect. It is through Jesus that we can enter into the kingdom of God.

            It is not God’s will that anyone should perish, but rather, that all men may come to be with God. That’s God’s will, that everyone in the world may go to him in the end.

            How strong is God? God can do anything in the world. God can and God does wondrous things. So have hope that God can do the things that are in your life.

            When Jesus died on the cross, he freed us from our sin. He freed us from our consequences that we would have ultimately paid if it wasn’t for him.
