Let’s talk a little bit about history for a second shall we? Let’s talk about the early Christians, their sacrifice and how does all of that tie into what we do today. We of course thank the early Christians for their work and their belief in Jesus, and even though there were some arguments in the church, God was the one who prevailed. Anyways, let’s talk about how Christianity spread.
The belief of the early Churches.
Let’s talk about the early church. After Jesus died, the apostles were given power from the holy ghost to speak to people from all over the world about the good news about Jesus Christ. These disciples actually had an encounter with fire. A fir had lit up in front of each of them and after the fire had left, they had the power to translate the message to each language. The message was that Jesus died for our sins and now we can go to heaven, summed up anyways.
So, the disciples started to preach everywhere. However, they were persecuted by the Roman Empire. The Roman Empire thought that people were going to rebel against them because they had different gods than God. There was a man in particular and his name is Saul. Saul was persecuting the Christians left and right and he was the Roman empire’s most powerful weapon against the Christians. However, one day, Saul was walking towards Damascus and then appeared a blinding light. The light started to talk to Saul and he said, “Why are you persecuting me?” Saul was shocked because this was the voice of the Lord! Afterwards Jesus said, “From now on your name will be Paul. After that encounter, Paul was blind and after three days, he was relieved from his blindness and it was as if though fish scales were fallen from his eyes.
Paul did not care though, and he went and started preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ towards the world! He started preaching and he would not stop. Though he was ship wrecked, sent to jail, persecuted, he did not stop preaching the word of God to the world.
However there was something dark happening in the midst of all this goodness. Christians were being persecuted just for being Christian, and they suffered death because of it. However, It is strange because the more that Christians died, the more Christianity spread. God was and is good.
So now what do we do? We are to go out into the world and spread the word of God to the world! God is the one who deserves to be preached about. We must embrace that as our destiny.
