Often times I hear hate towards Jewish people. I hear things like, “oh he’s a jew”, or other anti-Semitic things. I hate to break it to you all, but Jewish people are important to Christianity. It is because of them that we have a redeemer, salvation, a promise from God, etc. etc. Let’s talk about the importance of Judaism in Christians lives.

Abraham

Abraham was a good man in God’s eyes, so God decided to make a covenant with him. God said that his people, which would be his children and his children’s children, would be a chosen people to be priests to all nations. God’s promise was that he had to do a few things in order to stay as God’s chosen people, one of them was circumcision.

However, Abraham did not have any children and he was old along with his wife! And so God had to explain to Abraham that the promise was still going to happen even though Abraham was old. Finally at an old age, Abraham had a son named Isaac.

Isaac

Isaac grew up to have two sons. One of them was named Esau and the other was named Jacob. Jacob was the younger of the two.

Esau was favored by his father yet Jacob was favored by his mother. Jacob tricked his brother into doing something wrong, so he received the birthright from his brother. Afterwards Jacob received the blessing from his father through another trick that his mom told him to do. However God is not unjust, so he made Esau’s lineage a lineage with kings.

However, it was Jacob who received the blessing to continue doing what was promised to Abraham. One day Jacob saw God and he said, “bless me!” and God said no. So Jacob grabbed God and started to wrestle against God.

Of course God won, but along with that, he broke the leg of Jacob. However, God saw that Jacob’s faith was great in him and so he blessed him. However Jacob was crippled for the rest of his life and walked with a cane. Afterwards God said to Jacob, “from now on, you will be called Israel.” Which means one who wrestles with God.

All of this is the beginning of Judaism. Abraham received a blessing from God and the blessing went down the lineage of his sons. All of these stories can be found in Genesis if you want to read it up.

The lineage continues

Afterwards Israel had 12 sons. Their names were Reuben, Judah, Simeon, Levi, Issachar, Zebulun, Joseph, Benjamin, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, and Asher. These are the twelve tribes of Israel.

I’m not going to sit down here and say absolutely everything that happened in Genesis because we would be here all day long, but I am going to say that The twelve tribes of Israel ended up in Egypt where they lived at peace for 400 years, a prophecy that the Lord had said would happen.

Exodus

This is where the beginning of the book of Exodus takes place. What happened is that Pharaoh saw that the Jews were great in numbers and so he feared them and consulted with his other officials and they said, “Let’s kill the first born male of each household so that way we can control the situation.” So they did, the Egyptians went and massacred the children, except for one. Moses’ mom hid Moses until she couldn’t hide him anymore. When it was time to let him go, she made a basket and put Moses in it and sent her son in the river hoping that one of the Egyptian girls would find him and nurture him.

Sure enough one of the Egyptian girls, pharaohs daughter, found him and she asked her servant, which was Moses’ sister, to go and find a Hebrew woman who would nurse the boy. So Moses’ sister went and grabbed her mother and she nursed him.

Moses found out that he was Hebrew in his later years in life. One day, he was walking and witnessed an Egyptian taskmaster being harsh to a Hebrew and so Moses slayed him and then hid his body. Afterwards Moses left Egypt and went into the wilderness. When Moses was in the wilderness, he went up into a mountain because I saw something.

When Moses went up, he saw a bush on fire but it was not burning. Then Moses heard a voice from the bush. The voice was the Lord. The voice ordered Moses to go back to Egypt and let God’s people go. God had seen the suffering of his people and he thought it was time to go to the holy land. So, Moses was afraid because he could not speak well and of course they were looking for him in Egypt because they wanted to kill him.

Reluctantly, Moses went, however when Moses went, the Lord was the one who was guiding his words all the way.

After the ten plagues, Pharaoh finally let God’s people go.

Again I could sit here for days and type about all of the things that happened in the Jews early days but there’s literally not enough time.

King david

After the whole ordeal with Egypt, there were many events that happened in between them and King David. However there was a prophecy after David that there would be a king like David who would take away all of the sins from the world. King David is from the Lineage of Judah and so this new King would be from the tribe of Judah.

The lion of the tribe of Judah

The lion of the tribe of Judah, is Jesus. Jesus came humbly into this world and saved the world from it’s sins. Jesus himself was Jewish. He came from the line of Judah and he is the lion that we all hoped for.

During the times of the early Jews, there were laws that God put up that were supposed to get people closer to God, however no one could accomplish them completely. Jesus is the only Jew, only human to ever complete all of the laws in all of his life. Jesus was a perfect man, Jesus is the perfect king, and it’s through Judaism that we are saved.

The bible specifically states that we are not to be prideful just because we are Christians and they are Jewish. We can’t have that over them because we wouldn’t be anything without them. They are God’s chosen people! How could we show hate towards them? When all they do is obey the laws of God?

Thank you all for listening in on this blog post. I hope that I have been an encouragement and a hope to you all. I hope that you guys, read the bible yourself to see if what I’m saying is true. I really do encourage you guys to read the bible so that way, you get the message to yourself. This is sort of a condensed version of what happened, but there’s loads of other things that happened in between all of the books in the bible. I didn’t talk about Solomon, or Samson, Ruth, or Esther, I didn’t talk about the early Churches and their relationship with the Jews.

Please pray, read your bible, go to church, and love God above all else. Like, comment, share,  and subscribe and I will see you all next time. German Gonzalez, signing out!
