There is a lot of debate as to who the messiah is. Some people think it’s this person, others think it’s that. However, as Christians should believe that the messiah is Jesus. We believe that Jesus is the messiah because of the prophecies that happened, of the things that Jesus did, of the events that occurred during the time when Jesus was alive. Though we cannot see those things in person, we need to have faith in God that these things are true. Anyways, let’s talk about the messiah a little bit.
Who is the messiah?
When Adam and Eve sinned, God promised mankind that there would be a savior who would save the world from their sins for eternity.
In later chapters of the bible this redeemer was referred to as the messiah.
There are many prophecies that point to the fact that Jesus is the messiah. How he would be born of a virgin is one of them. Also, when Jesus was walking on the earth, in a multitude of crowds, there came a booming voice from heaven that said, “This is my son who I am most pleased.” Another Thing that points to the fact that Jesus is the messiah is that he showed great power on earth yet his own people did not accept him. That prophecy was in the bible.
I think though that the greatest prophecy that there was is that Jesus was supposed to be nailed on a tree. When that prophecy was said, crucifixion was not a penalty in the Roman Empire and it wasn’t until years and years later that crucifixion became a penalty for crimes.
What the Jewish population thinks
In the New Testament, there is a clear definition as to why the Jews disbelieve in the fact that Jesus rose from the grave. The Jewish priests actually bribed the soldiers who were guarding Jesus’ tomb to say that his disciples came and took his body away.
However, that contradicts itself. The point of the soldiers was to PREVENT THAT FROM HAPPENING. How could a group of Roman Soldiers fall asleep on the job, when all they had to do was watch over it, the Roman soldiers know that they cannot sleep and they know that they had to take shifts watching over it, so this contradicts itself.
No, the bible says that there was an earthquake and then the tomb rolled away while an angel sat on it.
Also, when Jesus died, the veil was torn. There was a veil in the mountain and it tore, that literally means that we can now be as close to God as however we want.
Today, the Hebrews await their messiah, and it’s okay it’s a part of the bible for this to happen. But us Christians know and understand that Jesus was the Messiah and that he will return again.
