Haha, why do we want to know if we are spiritually mature or not? Well there are a few ways that we can tell that we are spiritually mature or not, but first ask yourself. Why do I want to be spiritually mature? Don’t get me wrong, it is important to be spiritually mature, however, it’s not the only thing in life. If you are new to the faith and you want to grow in the faith, then grow spiritually, but just know that it will come in time, your spiritual growth will come in time. Anyways here are some signs that you are spiritually mature.

You find that you are willing to do anything and everything for God

When you are spiritually mature, you find that you can and will do anything for God.

It’s strange because there was a point in my life where I didn’t want to do the things that God wanted me to do. I didn’t want the good life that I knew that God could give me, instead I wanted to do whatever I wanted to do. Nowadays, I realize that the number one thing in my life that I want to do is worship and live the life that God wanted me to live in the first place. I want to serve God with all of my heart, I would die for him, I would live for him, I would sing for him, I would use my talents, I would do anything for him!

I can honestly say that there was a point in my life where I was like, okay God you can do this but you can’t do this and maybe a little of that but not so much of this. I was literally trying to allow God to enact in my life and that just doesn’t work. So, I grew up and I realized that God is going to have it his way and his way alone. Therefore, we should just accept the fact that God is going to get what he wants.

You pray on a consistent basis

Prayer is something that needs to be done whether or not you are spiritually mature. However, something that a spiritually mature Christian would do is pray on a consistent basis for everything and anything. Pray for the lack of sleep that you have, pray for the new business that you just started up, that boyfriend, girlfriend, grades, school, friends, cars, gas, electric bills, food, those superpowers that you thought you could have, those ungodly sinful thoughts that keep popping up in your mind, that hate that you have in your heart, ANYTHING! Why? Because all of those things we need careful consideration of, and all of those things, God can answer.

I would say that a spiritually mature Christian understands the power of prayer and actually believes not in prayer but in God that God will answer your prayers. I am a personal believer that God knows exactly what you need at all times, yet he asks us to pray for these things.

Why does God ask us to pray to him even though he is good and will provide anyways?

My answer is because he said so. He is our father and what more reason does God need than to say go there. If God says go there, we need to say, at your service! There are other people who say that it shows humility praying, but I say that God’s perfect way was to pray to him so we need to pray to him.

A spiritually mature Christian reads the bible

If you haven’t already read the entire bible from front to back. I can honestly say that I haven’t done that, but whenever I read something in the bible, it’s as if though I have already read it.

When you read the bible, you grow with God. It’s as simple as that. If you don’t read the bible, you don’t grow with God. There was something that my preacher once told me. He said that in order to do anything in life you need to be excellent at it. However, the one thing that God wants from us, is to have an excellent relationship with him. Everything else in our lives could be a mess but as long as our relationship with him is excellent, then we will have what we need at all times.

A spiritually mature Christian goes to church at all times

It’s something to go to church on Sundays, it’s something completely different to go to church on Wednesdays and Saturdays as well. Along with reading the bible reading every month and being in constant contact with the preacher asking him questions about the reading and the studies.

A spiritually mature Christian meditates on the word of God

Meditating on something means that you contemplate on what is just done or said. So, contemplate on the fact that you are free from your sins, contemplate that there is a happy ending to this tale of horror stories, contemplate on the fact that God can give you happiness no matter what situation you are in.

I remember back when I first started to learn how to meditate on the word of God, I didn’t start to meditate on it regularly but I did start to think about what was being said at church. I thought that it was important that I learned because my parents said so. I always thought that my parents were law and so I just listened to whatever they said at all times. When the preacher said that I needed to meditate on the word of God, I just started to think about everything that the preacher was saying.

I didn’t know it at the time, but that’s exactly what meditating on the word of God means.

You find that no matter what happens, you are always happy

There is this joy that happens in our hearts when Jesus enters our lives. That joy never leaves, no matter how hard we beat at it, or try and tear it down, that joy will remain because that joy is Jesus.
