I remember a few times I have been in church and I was bewildered by what they were saying. However, some other times they had a point in what they were saying. And I’ll be honest here, I’ve been in more than one type of church in my life. I’ve been in Pentecostal churches, catholic churches, Baptists, etc. etc. However, the one thing that I learned throughout all of my time in those churches is that the bible doesn’t change, no matter what man says. So, in order for you to really discern what is good and what is not good, actually requires wisdom. Why do I say that? Let’s talk about it.

So, my main reason why I say that it requires wisdom

Wisdom is the main thing, above all else, find wisdom. Isn’t that what it says in the bible? Of course I’m paraphrasing but you get the gist right?

Let’s take a look at music for example. I have been in churches that say that listening to music with a band and a bass and drums is actually a bad thing. I actually go to a church that supports that statement. However, I personally don’t believe that, that is a good thing.

I personally believe that you can worship God with that kind of music. I have actually spoken to my pastor about this and he said, “Well German I understand your point of view, I personally don’t listen to music that has a big band or bass or electric guitars in it. However, it’s not mainly the music it’s more so the people that I don’t agree with. So he started to mention as to why he doesn’t believe in the people and their testimony.”

Now me personally I don’t support what these people support either. However, when I listen to their music, it’s things that I support. It’s also not like I listen to every one of their songs because I don’t. I just listen to their songs that make sense. I listen to the songs that have wisdom, the ones that have God in it.

There are songs that I don’t support at all because I don’t believe that the purpose of singing that song is the right purpose. Like I have heard of songs how they talk about social topics and the way the world is, however, I believe that though they are saying good things, it’s not right because they need to be worshipping God and not talking about those challenges.

Though I am a big fan of Christian music, I personally don’t believe that Christian music today is doing God justice. Why do I say that? Because God is more eternal than the ever expanding universe. God was always here and God will always be here, just trying to wrap your head around that will make your head explode!

Anyways, back onto topic, if God is more eternal than the universe, then how come all we can sing about him is the love that he gave for us? Why don’t we be more creative in the ways that we love him?

I have heard a trillion and a half songs in my lifetime because I am a musician, and I can honestly say that they talk about the same sex, drugs, and rock and roll but rewording it differently. Each time they say it though, it is said with passion and energy and conviction in their hearts. How come we can’t do the same with God?

Unlike the empty, vain, putrid, and limited things that the world talks about in their music, how can we say that God is great? What are some ways that we can say that God is great? Though the sun and the stars may collide, I will worship the Lord with my life. And though the sky and moon may fall, I will praise the lord with my song! Howcome we can’t say things like that? God is good, great! He is but how much more powerful can we say that? God rained fire from heaven! The dead arose because of God. Jesus healed the people that were unhealable! How powerful is that?
