I have been working ever since I was 14. I’ve worked in all sorts of jobs in my life. From construction to customer service, from sales to security, I’ve done so much with my high school diploma. I’ve had jobs that paid a lot, I’ve had jobs that paid very little. However, there is something that needs to be said about all of the jobs that I’ve worked. In all of the jobs that I’ve worked I realized that no one is going to be one hundred percent Christian. It’s also impossible to find someone in the workforce that will understand all of your needs. However, you can be the difference in your job. You can be the light in the world. You can be the one that excels at your job because you have God. In this blog post, I will go over some jobs that you can do without breaking your relationship with God.
Any job is a good job
Alright, let me explain to you this. Jesus specifically said to not take us Christians out of the world, that God would just protect us from the evils that there are. So what does that relate to this?
I don’t personally believe that being a bartender is a good job because you’re serving people alcohol or maybe even working in a casino or perhaps being a drug dealer. I don’t believe that any of those jobs are appropriate for a Christian or anyone for that matter. However, when you ask the question what kind of job can I do without breaking the relationship with God? You have already gone past the notion that you were going to do any of those jobs.
So then, what Job is a good job? In reality any job is a good job but you have to be careful with this. Any job can help you in the long run and short run but you have to be the difference in what the world has to offer and what you can do.
Let’s say for example this, you want to work at your job every day except Sundays. Now it’s noble of you to be in the healthcare profession and work on call, so don’t let that stop you from working in the healthcare field. I know that doctors and nurses have to be on call sometimes so don’t lose sight of it. But just work your schedule. If you know you can’t attend church on Sunday because work got in the way, then go on Wednesday. If you can’t go on Wednesday, go Monday morning. You see most churches have amples of times and opportunities for people to gather and worship or hear a sermon. So don’t get caught up. Right now, I have a job, a sales job, and the pay is beautiful for me, the hours are nice, however, it interferes with church and I don’t like that. So right now I’m trying to decide which hours I want to take off and as a matter of fact, I can go on Wednesdays once I finish one of my classes. And I will go on Wednesdays because I need to hear the word of God.
Does God not understand that Doctors are needed every single day? Does God not understand that Police officers are needed every single day? Does God not understand that I need to pay my bills? Of course he does understand. God made this world the most perfect way that it currently is. God understands that there are Jobs that need to be done every day so don’t fret about the small things. Even in the bible it says that God wanted us to not put a yolk on ourselves that we could not hold. Why was this response told? It was told because the jews were questioning Whether or not the New Christians should follow the rules in liviticus. And the answer to that was no because they don’t need it. Then the jews asked, well then is it okay to lie? And the answer was no because that’s sinful. The purpose of the law was to know what sin is. That was the response to why the law was created. It’s not that the new law is done away but rather we can live in freedom. Anyways, it’s not a sin to miss a day at Church, even though your heart might convict you of it. However, God does want us to be immersed in his word and to know what his will is through prayer, reading the word of God, and Preaching’s and teachings. Of course the end goal of God is to make us closer to him by the end of our lives. Of course we have to become close to God because We all need God in our lives. Why do we need God in our lives? As infinite as the stars are in the galaxy, is how infinite are the reasons as to why we need God. If I were to start listing them, it just wouldn’t be enough to explain what are the reasons as to why we need God.
But if you wants specifics
I mean like, I’ve worked in all sorts of jobs and I guess in reality it depends on what you want out of life. I heard that sales are a good paying job without a college degree and in some states you can get a sales job with a GED. I have a high school diploma and thrive in a challenge. I love competition and I don’t mind putting in hard work to achieve a paycheck. That’s why I did sales. I knew it was going to be a challenge and I knew that it was going to pay off. So, I did sales and sure enough I excelled in it. Some sales jobs are really flexible with your hours too. The current sales job that I’m at right now is very flexible. Some sales jobs are part time, some are full time, some do 60 hours a week. Some sales jobs with a high school diploma pay 12,000 a month. However, that’s for a more experienced sales person with a large clientele. My current sales job can pay up to 90,000 a year, that’s nearly six figures!
I hated to work in restaurants, I’ve worked in a few restaurants and I hated each one, however even a restaurant job can pay extremely well. I’ve seen General managers who make 65k a year with just a high school diploma or GED.
I’ve worked in security, security is pretty good job to get into. If you want to become a police officer and meet the qualifications, then by all means do it. Just as long as it doesn’t conflict with your own morality. I know that some people couldn’t stand to bring a weapon to someone’s face and tell them to stand down. Or you might get queasy in a firefight. Whatever your reason is I know it can be difficult. Put police officers pay really well and only need a high school diploma.
Now if you want something with a doctorates or bachelors degree, you got me beat there, I am working on a degree right now and I haven’t had a job with a degree just yet but I’m working on it. Thank you all for listening in on this blog post. I hope that I have been an encouragement and inspiration to you all. Please pray, read your bible, go to church, and love God above all else.
