Album Time

It’s been practically a year since I announced that I was going to release an album. There were a few bumps in the road but now I know that the key is. The key is to say, “if God allows, there will be an album.” Why? Because I can’t control the future, I honestly thought and hoped that I would have an album already published by now. I can get it published independently it’s just that I haven’t done it yet. The reason for that is because I am building my audience on this blog. But anyways, the key here is to say, “If God allows, then I will build an album.” Because I cannot control the future, God can. God holds the whole future in his hands. He speaks life into existence, so, If God allows this time, I will have an album by the end of the year.

The type of album

            I of course want to make a pop Christian album. The lyrics, are going to be different than what you hear on the radio. I’m not trying to bash on CCM, but I feel like CCM is not doing God justice. The words are repeated over and over again in every song and it’s like there’s nothing original and new.

            People have been songwriting about sex, drugs, and rock and roll ever since those things were invented, yet we cannot find new words to describe, praise, and worship our Lord who is infinite? That just doesn’t make sense.

            God who is infinitely good and infinitely awesome can only be described as great? Or awesome? God is more than awesome or great, God is infinite! God is powerful, unique, Holy, Grandly incredible, etc. etc.

            So, I plan on making an album that worships and praises God with all sincerity and truth that I do worshipping him with my words and my life.

Themes in the album

            So, I want to make a few concept albums first before I put together a full length studio album and I want to pick the best songs from each concept album before I proceed in making the final product.

            So, some themes that I want to discuss in the album: God’s love, God’s awesome power and how it relates to us, trusting in God through difficult times, Trusting in God throughout all of your life, The beauty of what is the Lord Jesus Christ, and how our testimony can impact the world.

            Of course, it’s okay to get off topic and talk about other things, but we’ll stick with these main themes as of right now.

            I am currently making my songs better and in the process of making my lyrics better, so be patient with me as we go through this process.

            Let’s talk about some of these themes for a little bit.

God’s love

            So, God’s love obviously has to be mentioned in the album. My very first album has to include what God’s love is all about. So some topics that we could talk about are Jesus’ love towards the world and how his forgiveness always prevails. We could also talk about how God always had love for us from the start, from before we were born, all the way until after we die, God has a plan for each and every one of us.

            I want this album to be primarily focused on this theme because well it’s my first album, and I feel like the easiest thing to write about is love and what better way to write about love than to write about God’s love towards us?

            I used to write pop songs and I could write a love song within a minute, however, when I quit writing pop songs, I realized the kind of power that rested in my hands as a songwriter. I could have power to make millions, to reach out to people, to change people’s lives, for the better too!

            Therefore, I wanted this kind of power to rest in the God who would never fail them. I am not perfect and ultimately that wasn’t my dream, my original dream involved me getting rich off of my music and living in Beverly hills for the rest of my life.

            What shallow dream?!?!! That dream is so cold and dead just like everything else in this world. The only thing that truly has life, is God, he is life. I’ll be honest, I’ll be completely honest, I still sometimes dream that I will have millions of dollars with my music through pop music, but I know that, that dream is dead, literally.

            However, I realize that I can have life, by changing people’s lives for the better through Christ. Let me say it like this, I will not change people’s lives, God will. God will change people’s lives through my music and my blog and God will be the one to have an impact on my life and theirs.

            Honestly, what’s driving me into doing this album, is the fact that God is the one who is guiding me. If it was me, I would have long ditched this dream that I have of having the whole world know the name of God.

            I honestly can’t say that I am the one who is writing these blog posts because everyone who has blogged or written before will tell you that it takes work in order to do these kind of projects.

            But there’s something wrong about that, at these kind of things, I’m lazy, I’m actually really lazy. But I ask God to help me work and honestly that’s what gets me by through the day. God helps me work and God helps me to do the things that I need to do.

            Anyways, on to the next theme, we’ll only go over three more themes, the most important ones!

Trusting in God throughout all of your life.

            I realize that anything can separate us from God. Anything whatsoever! Because if you become rich, that can separate you from God. If you’re really poor, that can separate you from God. If you’re right down the middle of earning anything, that can separate you from God. If you’re hungry, thirsty, talented, content, unhappy, happy, jobless, job full, guitarist, pianist, singer, tradesman, educated, whatever it is can separate you from God.

            So, that it why you must learn to trust in God throughout all of your life. Because there are going to be moments in your life that are going to be tested, but you have to remember that God is with you in the storm, in the day, in the desert, when you’re stranded at sea, etc. etc.

            I thought that trusting in God throughout all of your life was supposed to go to anyone who is anyone because when you’re down, you should remember God and when you’re on the highest of high you have to remember God. It doesn’t matter where you are in life, you should always remember God.

The beauty of what is Jesus Christ

            I want the world to know just how beautiful Jesus is. What is the most beautiful thing you’ve seen in nature? What is the most epic visual thing that you’ve ever seen? Was it a sunset? Was it a city? Was it the view from an airplane? How about when you were scuba diving in the coral reef? Was it the Grand Canyon? I want the beauty of God to be remembered.

            I don’t want to compare all of these things to the beauty of God, because God is infinitely much more beautiful than these things. I do want, however, to give a sense of what the beauty of God is.

The type of Christian pop that I want to make

            Honestly, I have been listening to a lot of early 2000s punk rock, pop rock, and I really like the way that it sounds especially the way that the acoustic sound with the drums and bass. I like the mellow singing against the acoustic strings it just sounds so good.

            I wouldn’t mind making a modern pop song, but I feel like that’s just too much. I like the synthesizers and the drums and production of modern pop songs, but it seems too frivolous.

            I want a natural sound but who knows, I might toy around with the synths and pads a little more than expected and I might make a full blown pop song, with Christian lyrics.

            I know for sure that I want to have an acoustic guitar, hip hop drums, and violins in one of my songs. I know for sure that a song like that would sound so good if I were to make it.

Personnel

            So, I remember back when I was talking about this album at first, I mentioned that I would bring some of my friends in on this journey. However, that has changed. I now want to do the album solo. We’ll see where it goes. I could do all of it myself, however, the only problem that I would have is mastering and even that is not too much of a problem.

            I want to do the album all myself because I want to know what it’s like to appreciate what I have first and take the steps in becoming an independent musician on my own, that’s part of it. The other part is because I want my first album to be a sole representation of me.

            However, like I said, we’ll see where God takes us. God could take us to places we never thought was possible and he’ll make it so that we stay there for eternity.

Songs

            I remember back when I was first writing this album, I had around 10 songs already written out. We’ll I’ve started nearly from scratch, I have one or two songs still left that I want to keep in the album. I now have 6 songs that sound like HITS. I love these songs and I hope you do too.

Broadcast

            I know that I haven’t talked about salvation today. But I will say it right now. If there’s anyone out there in the world that wants to know who Jesus is and what he has done for us, then you are free to communicate with me.

            Jesus died for all of us, and for that we all can go to heaven all we have to do is believe in him and we will go to heaven. Read John 3:16 Jesus himself said those words. And that is our faith.
