I’ve actually been in Jail, I’ve been in hospitals for extended periods of time, I didn’t grow up the richest, I’ve been depressed for a big majority of my life, I’ve suffered from different ailments and I can honestly say that God rules.
I don’t care what this world does to me, I love God with all of my heart.
Why am I like this? Because it’s not God’s fault that I am the way that I am. It’s my own sin nature that got me in the hospitals and in the jails.
With that being said, I know a thing or two about overcoming difficult situations with God in mind. So, here is the best advice that I can give to anyone who is going through difficult times. Let’s get started.
Seek God early
As soon as something bad happens, seek God.
God has the answers to our lives that no one has. Are you looking for that husband? God has the perfect husband planned out for you. Are you looking for the perfect wife? God has the perfect wife planned out for you. Are you looking for that dream job? God has the perfect dream job lined up for you.
Now that’s a little too earthly, what about those difficult questions? Am I going to heaven? God has the answer to that as well. Are there aliens out there? God has the answer to that as well. What church should I go to? God has the answer to that as well. God has the answer to life’s most difficult questions so don’t fret when things go sideways.
Pray
Praying to me has always gotten me through hard times.
One time, I was desperate, I was so close to killing myself and I started to pray. I started to pray and I prayed to God to let me live.
I prayed to God to let me live and sure enough at that moment, I started laughing. And this hope and this joy and this spirit just overwhelmed me to the point where I just laid on my bed and fell asleep and I woke up the next day refreshed. I couldn’t even remember the reason why I wanted to die.
I’m not saying that, that happens all the time. But God can do these things because he loves his people and he wants his people to thrive and live. Sure enough, I was filled with help and I had strength and courage and hope and light in my heart, a strength that is immeasurable.
From time to time I still feel that in my heart and I honestly can’t describe it to you but it’s just awesome. So, pray.
Seek help from people that love you
Seek help from parents or counselors. Be sure that they agree with what you believe in and trust that God will do the rest.
(Big disclaimer) I am by no means a therapist or doctor, so if you want to seek help from people, I recommend you go to either of these. If you find responsible peers as well, go seek them too.
I would go first to my parents because they have an intimate relationship with you. They have an intimate relationship with you and they can help you in more ways than someone with less power can help you in.
