What should worship mean to us?

I remember I one time heard of a preacher that if you clock in and leave the shift to go do your own things, don’t even call yourself a Christian because that’s not being a Christian. Another time I heard that Worship is more than just singing to God, even though that’s an important part of worship. Another time I read in the bible that worship should be with our bodies too! So what does ideal worship look like? Let’s talk about this.

Ideal worship should be honest

            Worship that is true, should be honest. What does that mean? It means that you should be honest in all the things that you do. It means telling the truth even when it is most difficult, it means being honest with yourself. It means that you have to be honest with your singing and praising too.

            Even though you may praise and worship God with your mouth, is your soul and heart there? Do you fully surrender your heart and soul to God when you do these things?

            Even more than when you do these things, do you fully surrender your heart and soul when you are all alone and in secret?

            When you worship God, you should give God your all. It’s not like I’m going to sing to God right now and then afterwards I’m going to go get drunk at a party. That’s not worshipping God.

            When you worship God, you need to fully surrender all that you have to him. In this manner, he is glorified.

            Some people might say, oh but then you never have any fun. When you fully surrender your life to God, you realize that the things that you wanted were actually not good in the first place and as a matter of fact, they were shameful things.

            I know this is true because I’ve experienced that before myself.

            I remember back when I was a teenager, I thought it would be cool if I had a girlfriend. Nothing wrong with her, but I didn’t know that, a relationship such as that required work and commitment. Commitment that I was not ready for. Haha!

            So anyways it was all an embarrassing ride for me and sure enough it ended.

Now I see that what my parents said to me was right all along. My parents were right and I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Isn’t that funny?

Ideal worship should try

            God knows that we are not perfect. God knows that we could never do perfect worship or praise towards him. However, God does expect for us to try. Try your best to worship God at all times and God will see what you’re doing and he will never deny a person that wants to worship him.

            I remember that I once said to myself that I wanted to be perfect in front of God. However, that literally drove me insane. I couldn’t be perfect. It was impossible for me to be perfect.

            I was humbled in a harsh way and I saw that I will always have this sin in my life and that my life is just going to be a rollercoaster of sin and forgiveness but God will always be victorious.

            Don’t try and be perfect, that’s not healthy for you, but try your best to be the person that God wants you to be.

            I hope that I have inspired some people today to start worshipping. If you want to worship God with all that you are, then I highly recommend that you do so immediately. God can do all things and God can work in your life. Never doubt that God is awesome and God can do amazing things.
