I am so thankful that I have the education that I have today. I am so thankful for the music that I do, for the talent that I have, for the people that I’ve met, for the skills that I have, all of it. My school taught music in middle school and in high school to those who wanted to be a part of it.
Some people might say that music education should be a part of every child’s education and that music should be mandatory for education.
Let’s talk about this.
What I think
I personally don’t think that music should be a part of every child’s education. I know I know, that’s coming from a musician right? A good musician too. Well hear me out.
If, we make music a mandatory class, then why not make wrestling a mandatory sport? Or soccer or football? Why not make computer classes mandatory?
First off it would be impossible to make all of that come true in a person. Second off, no one wants to do all of those things because all of those things require work or dedication to it.
Also, in music, we preach about freedom and being free from anything. If we make music a mandatory thing, we are taking away other people’s freedoms to choose what they want to do.
I know the benefits of music
I know that there are studies that show that people with music skills are sought after in jobs and also in schools. Also, if you are a musician, there is a higher chance that you will complete a college degree.
I haven’t heard the same thing is true with sports. As a matter of fact, I’ve seen that sports gets people out of school and into the field. I get it though, they are practicing for their dreams.
Music education in the United States
I think that the music education should expand for certain. One, kids love music. A kid should at least be given the chance to perform in an ensemble.
If you love music, I don’t think that you should be held back from following your dreams. I know that there are many things that can stop you from doing so, but follow your dreams and God will help out with the rest.
Broadcast
I know I didn’t really talk about God today. But just bare in mind that God absolutely loves you. No matter what you’ve done in life. God loves you. If you have any questions regarding God, feel free to ask away. If you want a more accurate response, go to God and God will respond in the best manner.
