What is the purpose for music?

Like with many things in life, the answers can almost always be found in the bible. If not found in the bible, the answer can be found through praying. God will always show you what his will is because he wants you to do his will. In this blog topic, I am going to go over what is the purpose of music.

            Let’s talk about this.

The purpose is to worship God

            God made music for his own purposes, not for vanity. God made music so that way we could worship him. Imagine this, there is an art made of completely sound. Who could have made something like that if it wasn’t God?

            Music is a good thing, therefore, we ought to use it for the right reasons.

            I remember I used to listen to all kinds of music back when I was a kid. I used to listen to gangsta rap, Rock, metal, pop, everything that there was to hear, I heard it.

            And I can honestly tell you that the lyrics that were being portrayed were nothing that could have been worshipping God.

            The music was just so powerless. It was all in vain that I was listening to those kinds of music.

The power of God’s music

            I’m not just saying that Christian music is inspiring, because it is, but honestly, that music has a purpose.

            Imagine this, a lot of popular songs are about love, in one way or another. But what point is there in writing about love if we know that it’s going to end eventually. Even if you are married to someone for your entire life, one day, one of you is going to die and the other one will live.

            If the popular song isn’t about love, then they’ll talk about drugs, sex, partying, sometimes they get depressed and write very sad songs, I know music, I know what I’ve heard and what is the point in writing that music? There is practically no point in writing that music because everything will end eventually.

            With Christian music, you are writing to your God. God is the one who is setting up treasures for you in heaven when you write Christian music, therefore, it has a purpose. In heaven, there are no thieves who can break in and steal, in heaven, treasures are forever.

            That purpose is a purpose that lasts for a lifetime and then some more.

We were meant to worship God

            God created everything for his pleasure. We were created for his pleasure. It would behoove us if we were to worship God with everything that we are. We would benefit from that, not God. God doesn’t need us to sing to him in order to be as powerful as he is.
