There are a few things that you can do in order to boost your SEO on your music blog. However, none of them work just as well as the number one tip that I’m about to share with you in this blog post. Today, I’m going to give you my number one trick in boosting traffic to your site, let’s get started.
Put up more content
I don’t care if you have 10 blog posts up or 200 blog posts up. The more content that you put up on your blog will give you more traffic.
I remember I one time heard an internet marketing teacher state that the answer is almost always more content.
Actually I heard that from Income School, go check them out on YouTube.
In the video that I was talking about, it had in the thumbnail, “How to go from 100 views to 100,000 views.” In that video it was very clear that all you really have to do is add more content.
I actually saw that last year and I couldn’t help but to think that, that was such a genius way of getting people to put more content on the internet.
So, I can’t help but to think to myself that I am so close to getting the views that I want. Just because of this. I write almost on a daily basis, sometimes 3-4 times a day. And I just have a feeling that my blog is about to blow up. I actually have around 130 page views to my site this month alone. So it’s true that I am getting there.
Let me tell you my experience
I don’t have too much experience in the internet marketing realm. However, I do have a background in this. I was certified in social media marketing last year. So I can manage social media. I have been writing in this blog for about a year and a few months, And all of that experience has led me to believe that the more content that you put up on your blog, the more traffic that you’re going to get.
I know what you’re thinking
I know what you’re thinking, “but German, shouldn’t we look for active ways to boost your traffic so that way we can rank faster?”
Well, if you want to put it on your Facebook and Twitter so that your family and friends could see it, I don’t mind. But I you don’t have a huge following on your Facebook or Twitter, then why would you try and promote something that probably isn’t going to go anywhere?
I’m not going to lie to you, it is good that you do some promotion, however, it’s hardly going to get you any traffic and it would hardly do anything to your SEO.
If you want to actively work to get your traffic, It’s hard but doable
So in certain niche’s you can actively work on your traffic, but then again it would take a lot of work. It would take work to get your traffic. And either way, you’re still going to have to take between 9 months to a 3 years in order to start seeing the traffic that you want. And during that time the biggest contribution to your SEO would have been your blog posts.
So, instead of wasting time with the 10% of traffic that MIGHT come in. Why don’t you focus on the 90% of traffic that has a more probability of coming in and write more blog posts so that 90% has a higher chance of coming in.
Story time
In my social media marketing course, they went over blogging and they said that the more blog posts you put up the more traffic you’re going to get. So, I said to myself, you know the proper way to do things is going to have to be through the long way. So I played the long game and waited for my traffic. I spent months hardly receiving traffic, maybe 5 views a week, it was a little disheartening, but I went through it.
I said to myself, I’m probably doing something wrong and sure enough I was about to quit, but then I kept at it because my dad said that I’ve started something good and I should complete it.
So I kept going.
I kept going and it’s been a year since I started my blog and now I’m starting to get the traffic that I want.
My piece of advice to you
Look for ways to get better at writing. Because ultimately that’s your biggest marketing tool. Look for ways to advance in writing blog posts and trust me that people will start to show up.
Write consistently over long periods of time. I write almost every day sometimes 3-4 times a day.
What happens is that google and other search engines want to see that your site is a reliable site. They want to see that you are a reputable blogger and they will give you traffic because they need the content to survive, but you have to put it out there.
Part of the credibility to your site will rely on consistently posting blog posts over time. So start writing.
I’m personally not saying that you should write every day. You could write 3-4 times a week but nothing less than that. That’s the amount of traffic that you want and the speed that you want.
I wanted to write every day because I wanted to make it a habit to write. That’s the reason why I write every day. Just for me for myself I knew that if I did anything less than every day, I would not have written what I needed to write on a consistent basis.
HOWEVER, that’s just me! If you feel like you’re the same way, well then try and write every day. However, if you can manage going every other day writing blog posts, I would suggest doing that.
Also, if you do decide to write every day, then start off with smaller blog posts. I know that you probably hear big internet marketing gurus telling you to write longer form content (Which does help your SEO) but for the sake of you, start off small. I would suggest 400-600 word length when first starting out and 1000 to 1600 word length when at an intermediate level of writing.
The reason why I say this is because when we first start writing, it’s very discouraging when you don’t know what you’re doing and you’re putting in all this work. You can put in all the work and when you realize that you’re not making money off of it and you’re just working, it’s hard. That’s why I say for the sake of you, be easy on yourself and start off small.
Yes it would be good if you did longer form content and it would be good for your blog and not for you. But if you are a new blogger and you want to turn this into a career, start of small, it will benefit you in the long run.
When I started
When I started writing blog posts, I was just writing. I had no sense of direction and I didn’t even have good writing skills. But I learned, partly because my friend was willing to teach me a few things about writing, but it’s different to write essays than it is to write blog posts.
She showed me the proper way to use punctuation and proper sentence structure. So that was a complete blessing. However, if you’re not fortunate enough to have someone teach you the ropes on writing, teaching yourself to write is not a bad option. Google proper punctuation and you will know how to use punctuation correctly.
I know for a fact that Purdue University has an AWESOME writing lab that you can learn how to write. So check them out, I love using them from time to time especially when I don’t know what to do.
