Tips on praying

I love it whenever I hear someone saying, “how do I get better at praying?” As Christians, we should always be aware that praying is a necessary thing. We should be praying constantly and consistently. God can give us the things of our hearts. God can give us what we need and want, but we must be in God first in order to do that.

            Today, I will give some tips on how to pray, let’s get started.

Start off small

            I remember back when I first started praying I was around 6 years old. I was 6 and I had heard how it was important to pray to God all the time.

            So of course I started to pray, but I didn’t know what I was praying for.

            Honestly, I can’t remember the things that I prayed for, but I remember that God always answered it and God was always there.

            So, no matter how insignificant or small your prayer is, pray to God about it and God will answer you.

Your prayers must be in God’s will in order to get the okay from God.

            So, You can pray for anything in the world. However, you cannot pray for someone to get run over by a car because you hate them. You can’t pray to sleep with multiple women. You can’t pray for evil things, that’s the thing. You can only pray for things that are according to God’s will.

            God can and God will answer the things that are according to his will. God can call you to do a wide variety of things, however, make sure that you’re in God’s will when you do these things.

            Of course anything outside of God’s will is not okay. So, be constantly praying to God to improve your prayers.

Be honest with yourself

            I know sometimes we say to ourselves, “No Lord this time I really mean it!” haha! You’re not kidding anyone, you’re basically just lying to yourself.

            God knows the intentions of our hearts, God knows that we need him more than anything else. And God also knows that we can lie to ourselves from time to time.

            I’ll give you an example.

            Sometimes, whenever I am in a really good position, I will tend to forget about God. I will tend to forget about him and I look back and I say to myself, what was I praying for?

            It’s funny because I’ll say to myself, this time I really mean it. Sometimes I do actually want to do it. But at the same time, God knows the inner parts of the heart. God knows that when we try and bury the truth, God can reveal it. God exposes it.

            This is the reason why I say to be honest with yourself. Because what happens to me is that I get what I want, which I claim is something good, only to find out that it’s nothing but ash in my mouth.

            The things that I want aren’t really the things that I want.

            The only things that I want that I actually keep for the long term, are the things of God.

            So, be honest with yourself and God will help you along the way.

The bible is full of verses that show how to pray

            When praying, try and pray on your own without the help of other people. What is done in secret will be blasted on the speakers! Haha! That’s me paraphrasing that bible verse. The real bible verse is, “What is done in secret will be shouted on the rooftops.”

            But God has a way of recompensing those who pray, and that is by him working. God works and God is always working.

Pray without ceasing

            Pray consistently and constantly. God is always watching to see if you come back to him. God wants you with him. So, never forget about God and God will always be there for you.

Practice, practice, practice

            Practice praying. You only get better at something if you start practicing it. So don’t forget to pray day and night. Pray to God to wake you up in the mornings. Pray to God to get you to work on time, pray to God for absolutely everything.
