Musicians have a wide variety of things that they do on a daily basis. Whether you’re an independent musician or a signed recording artist signed to a major label, you’re going to have duties to your fans, producers, A&R representatives and managers. Today, we’re going to discuss what Musicians do on a daily basis, let’s talk about this. 

Writing songs

Almost all musicians are going to write songs at some point. Unless of course you are Justin Bieber and you are already a big time artist that doesn’t need to write music and has other people write his music for him. 

But if you’re the average joe trying to get signed to a record label, it takes some songwriting in order to get signed to a record label or agency. 

Even major label artists still are involved in the songwriting process. 

Eminem, i’m most definitely sure that he writes his own songs. 

Taylor swift i know she is renowned for her songwriting. 

All rappers write their own songs because rapping is a more intimate thing than singing a song to people. It requires insight and the ability to do the rhythm of the words in the manner that it’s supposed to go with the beat. 

Although you could learn someone elses song, it wouldn’t give you the same insight as to what the song should be about.

Interacting with fans

I know some of you are saying to me this, “German, there are so many artists out there that don’t reply to their fans and so many artists who don’t like responding to fans, why do i have to respond to fans?” 

Well, your fans are your number one fans. They are the ones who are investing money into your music. Without them, you wouldn’t have a house to live in or a car to drive. 

It’s also good for the press if you respond to fans. It makes you a personal person. Knowing what your fans are doing and how you can better serve them will ultimately make you more money. 

Attending meetings

Different artists have different meetings with their managers, executives, songwriters, producers. 

A recording artist has to attend these meetings because every album that you release is supposed to be better than the previous one. These meetings are making sure that you are on the right track to become the best artist that there is. 

If you make money, then your managers make money, simple as that. So, obviously as a musician, the music matters as to how good it is written, produced, developed, recorded, so these meetings are going to arrange how you’re going to do the things that you signed up to do. 

Marketing

Of course you wouldn’t be a musician if you didn’t try and spread your music around. 

Marketing is a pivotal thing in the modern musicians life. You must be able to self market your products because you cannot wait on anyone to help you. 

I personally have this blog and i’ve started a twitter but i haven’t made it public as to what my Twitter is. 

I know i had a Twitter in the past but i deleted that because i felt as if though my Twitter wasn’t matching up with the things that i believed in. 

Therefore, you must be active on social media.

Broadcast

I know that this may seem a little daunting to the new musician, but don’t let anything stop you from living out your dreams. Let God help you.
