Topics for a Christian concept album

So, you read my last blog post and now you are ready to write an entire Christian concept album. You have a theme set in stone, maybe a few, and now you have all sorts of ideas swirling through your head.

            However, it’s not like you’re just going to run rampant when you write this Concept album.

            Why?

            Because it should follow an order as to how you’re going  to write about it.

            It’s not like you should just be wild about everything that you’re doing too.

            There is structure when you write this album, let’s talk about this.

Picking topics

            When you have a theme for your concept album, now is the time to decide on topics to write about.            

            When regarding a concept album, a topic is this, a narrow subject about a particular field.

            You have your theme setup for your concept album and that is a broad, yet narrow subject that you’re writing about. However, to narrow that field even more to make a complete song, we pick topics to write about.

            Here’s an example of a topic

            (I’m pretty sure that you remember in the previous post a theme is broad yet narrow.)

            The example that I gave for the theme was this, “Love and how it relates to Jesus’ word”

            This one takes it a step further.

            A topic that would go great in this theme would be, “Love and how it relates to Jesus’ word in modern society.” Think of all the song lyrics and hooks that you could come up with.

            An example of words that you could use would be, “it’s still true”, “God’s word is still alive”, “There is still hope”, “Eternal hope”, Etc. etc. Those are very strong lyrical hooks in and of themselves that could start a great song.

            When picking topics, try and stick to the message that you are all about. I know that we all have differing views when it comes to the sensitive topics, however, God’s word is the same. No matter what we say about it, there’s really only one way that God intended it to be and the only thing that would be required in order to spread the true message of God, would be to pray to him and stick close to him.

            I say it this way because I don’t want everyone just saying whatever and thinking that they can get away with it.

            If your theme falls on the narrow side of the spectrum, then try and broadening out your topic so that you have more to write about.

            Remember, the reason why we decided on a concept album was to narrow down the amount of ideas as to write about and actually give us more lyrics to write about.
