With the rise of the internet in modern times, technology and communication has rapidly increased. T.V. dramatically improved communication in between leaders and massive audiences, now anyone with an internet connection can communicate with people all over the world.
We as Christians should feel obligated to take advantage of this new technology for the purposes of the Lord.
Now, everyone with a passion for the Lord can communicate the good message of the Lord to the world and all we would have to do is to work hard at it and people will listen to us.
With that being said, here are some ways that you can serve the Lord.
Blogging
Blogging, in my opinion, is probably the best form of communication. To me, when I read an article, I think to myself that this person must know what they’re talking about if so many people are listening to that person.
I actually started this blog for a few main purposes. I will list all of them from the order of most important to the least important.
- I wanted to serve God. I thought to myself that I have a deep passion for the Lord and I know that the Lord would take care of me if I were to write for him. I didn’t care about the money because I know that no matter what you do, you will always get money if you work really hard at that thing. I also wanted to share the gospel with the world because I have this burning desire to share the gospel with the world.
- Get fans for my music. I wanted to serve God with my music. However, I know that it is really difficult to be a Christian musician just because we don’t have the same popularity as pop or rock music. Again, I said to myself, I can make a lot of money no matter what I do because God will be the one to provide for me. I currently do write songs, but I’m waiting until my blog gets a little more traffic for me to start releasing my music and promoting it through my blog.
- I wanted a supplemental income. I know that this blog can provide a lot for me. I know that I can work hard at this blog and succeed at doing the things that the top bloggers do, I just need to work at it.
Those are the main reasons why I wanted to start a blog. They are all valid reasons as to starting a blog. So why wouldn’t I start a blog?
Start a YouTube channel.
If you’re a pastor, preacher, Sunday school teacher, or just plain Godaholic, then it would be okay for you to start a YouTube channel for the purposes of communicating the word of God through YouTube.
It actually takes more work to start a YouTube channel. You have to write scripts, prepare pre-production, go into actual production, and edit the videos yourself when you first start out. On top of making up ideas as to what you can talk about.
It takes a lot of hours out of your day to make one video a week, however, the results are faster than making a blog post every day.
I personally don’t have a few hours every day to invest into something that’s going to take a year to bring in income. I could sacrifice half an hour or maybe an hour of blogging in order to get somewhere within 2 years but that’s the main reason why I chose to blog instead of creating a YouTube channel.
Podcasts
I actually don’t know much about podcasts. I think that they grow the same way that blogs and YouTube channels grow but I don’t know.
Of course there are courses out there that teach on how to create a podcast so if it were me, I would go look up those courses.
***Those were the main internet ways to serving the Lord, now let’s talk about in person ways you can serve the Lord***
Music
Become a musician for the Lord. The temptation here is that once you have the music skills necessary to make great music for the Lord, it’s tempting to make great music that will satisfy the flesh.
I know this because I’ve gone through it. I have experienced temptations leading me to just be an earthly singer and songwriter. I know I could have done great too if I just stuck with it, but I know for a fact that it wouldn’t have been a good life.
Therefore, pray to God when you’re going through the music phase and he will help you.
Charity
The lord loves a giving heart. I’m not saying to give your entire bank account to a Charity, but the Lord loves someone who gives.
I personally give around 20 % of my checks to charities. 10% to churches and 10% to the local food drive.
I’m not saying that, that’s what you should do too. I am just saying that, that is how I handle my finances.
Some people give more, others give less. I knew someone who gave 90% of his checks to charities and churches and you know what? He still owned a Ferrari.
So, I surely believe that God 90% of his checks to charities and churches and you know what? He still owned a Ferrari.
So, I surely believe that God does take care of those who give.
And of course, preaching
If you have an academic ability, if you are strong with the Lord, if all you want is to serve God day and night, then I think being in front of an altar is your calling.
You can preach on a blog too, but God does call some people to become preachers. It is the best job that you could possibly have. No one can beat that.
