Different people have different standards as to what a good blog should be doing. Some people think that the blog should be making them a lot of money, other people think that their blog should be a form of communication.
If you want to know for sure if your blog is working, then you have to ask yourself a few questions: Why did I start this blog? Is my blog effectively doing the things that I want it to do? Have I given my blog and myself enough time to achieve all of the things that I want from it? Have I actually worked at the blog and done consistent effort to improve on my writing and blog for long periods of time?
If you answer these questions honestly, then you will have a better sense if your blog is “working.”
Let’s talk about this
So what do you want?
If you’re honest with yourself, you will say the real reasons as to why you want this blog. I’m honest and I’ve told you all that I wanted to start this blog because I wanted to spread the word of God to the world, gain fans for my music, and also gain an income from blogging.
Those were my main reasons as to why I wanted to start a blog.
If you’re a Christian blogger, your first priority for the blog should be God. Your priority should be God, not man.
Because what happens is that once we start to see the feedback from the world, we see that people just want worldly answers.
We have to be well rooted in God in order to go through this journey. Why? Because there will be times when this world is going to try and separate us from God. However, we should not fear because God is with us and God has conquered the world.
If you want money, Hey I get it! I too want money and blogging is a great way to make some money!
But the problem is when all we chase is money and we put God as an attention grabber from our audience and not the main focus of the content.
I hear you when you say that you want to serve the Lord, but what does serving the Lord look like? Does it mean saying inspiring things to people? Does it mean singing motivational songs? Or does it mean that you communicate the word of God to people? Does it mean that you read the bible and figure out what God would want you to say?
It has to be those last answers. I get what you say when you say, “German motivational and inspirational things aren’t bad! So, therefore, God would want me to say it.”
I’ll put it to you like this, They’re not bad, but the way that we find inspiration and motivation should be correct too.
I could say all the motivational and inspirational things in life, however, it will not make a difference if you don’t have God. I have witnessed this exact statement in person a multitude of times.
People like to give inspirational speeches and motivate a crowd to get up and actually start to work. However, in reality all they need is God to actually work.
God is the one who gives us the strength to get up and work each day. God gives us the strength to do good.
Therefore we need to have God in our lives in order to achieve the things that we want in life.
The facts
The fact is that it’s going to take A LOT of time before you make a check from your blog. That is the stone cold truth. You might say to yourself, “But Forbes says that I can make money in as little as months.”
So, I have a response to that. I actually have a few responses to that.
Back in the day, it was easier to get your blog posts at the top of the search results within a few weeks. I’m talking about 15 plus years ago.
It was easier because there weren’t many blogs out there and Google was dying to get some good quality content out fast!
That’s not the case anymore.
Now, Google can wait years before giving your blog the traffic that it needs because there’s just too many people out on the internet.
I would say give your blog at least 2 years before you decide that your blog has failed. But in those two years, I want you to blog at a MINIMUM of 3 to 4 times a week. If you’re not doing that, I don’t see you getting a lot of traffic any time soon.
I also want to see you working on your writing skills.
Now I say this again, I’m not guaranteeing anything, but work hard at it and you’ll surprise yourself.
Bottom line
The bottom line is that your Christian blog can work! You can have a successful Christian blog and make a lot of money off of it.
Your blog can and will be something to admire at, it just takes a whole lot of work.
Broadcast
I hope that I have inspired some people out there to start their blogging journey. Blogging is an amazing art. Blogging can and will impact people for the foreseeable future. Just work hard at whatever you do and you will go a long ways. Trust God that if you work hard at anything, then you will become successful at it.
If you want to go to heaven, then believe in Jesus and Jesus will get you into heaven.
