What is it like to be a Christian?

You know it’s funny because when I first picked up Christianity, I did not know all of the benefits that were associated with being a Christian. I honestly just became Christian because I heard that God made me and that the reason why I was alive was because God made me.

            I heard this news and I immediately thought to myself, “Wow God has made me, for this reason I will serve him.”

            However looking back now, I see that it was the most important decision that I could have ever made. This decision to follow God is more important than listening to my parents, picking up guitar, making this blog, or having any job that makes me millions.

            Today, I will go over what it’s like to be a Christian and why it’s so important to become a Christian.

It’s the best thing since God

            Of course God is the best thing since God, but I’m just trying to stress how important it is to be a Christian.

            I absolutely love being a Christian. Not only do I get what I need all the time, but if I set my heart for the Lord, then I will get everything that I want.

            That promise is actually found in the bible.

            Jesus was preaching to the disciples and he states, “If ye abide in me and I abide in you, then ye shall ask what ye will and it shall be done unto you.”

            But that’s not the only bible verse that states that God will give us what we want if we set our hearts for him.

            There are other bible verses that say the same thing too, you just got to look them up.

            *** I am a true witness to this. I’m not calling myself a holy man, however, I do set my heart for the Lord and I’ll be honest, I do get what I want.

            However I must be clear here, I don’t get what I want all the time. It doesn’t work like that too.

            If I want something that is against God’s will, then I will not have it.

            I have actually prayed for a lot of “good things”, however, some of them did not come true and that’s not because I’m not holy or I’m not with the Lord, but rather that’s because the Lord just didn’t have that planned out for me.

            Sometimes I remember the things that I used to pray for and looking back now, I see that it was the best decision that God did not let those things happen to me.

            I’ll give you one thing, I used to pray to become a soldier or a marine, well I shouldn’t say that I prayed, but I would ask God to give me a job in the military.

            Sure enough, time passed and I ended up not getting into the military.

            However now, I see that there are good reasons why God does not let those things happen.

            It’s a dangerous job and it could cost me my life. Looking back now, I see that doing that job would’ve killed me.

            I’m thankful that I never joined the military.

            I’m not trying to disrespect anyone who ever joined the military and I’m not trying to bash anyone who likes the military. As a matter of fact I do thank those who served in the military, however, it wouldn’t have been good for me.

            Therefore, the Lord was merciful unto me even then.

  Some misconceptions of being a Christian

            I have heard from some people that they think that becoming a Christian means that they will never have any problems ever again.

            That’s not true.

            When you become a Christian you still will have those trials and tribulations, the difference is that God will prepare you for those days.

            God will also give you the strength to get through those days.

            There will be days as a Christian where it may seem like there’s no hope in sight.

            However, you should know that God is right there and God will be the one to take care of you when you’re down. He will pick you up. He will never let you down, you can trust in that.

            Another misconception is that God will give you everything that you ever wanted and more.

            So, God is God and he can do whatever he wants. However, this requires a bit of wisdom. Yes God could give you everything that you ever wanted, but you would have to do it through God’s way.

            Often times when we think of all of the things that we could ever possibly want, it often times revolves around the fact of money.

            Usually our hearts want materialistic things, money, houses, cars, clothes, status, etc. etc.

            And the bible actually has ways of obtaining those things, but you’re going to have to do it through God’s way if you want a good paycheck.

            Do you want to become a guitarist? Well God can make you that, he made me that. Do you want money? God can give you that. Do you want peace? He can give you that.

            Anything good in the world that you would want, God can give you, it’s just a process to have it.
