The bible is actually pretty plain and simple if you just do your research about a topic. I know that there are words that use imagery and symbolism in the bible, however, a big chunk of the bible is just plain instructions.
I mean I’m not going to say “big chunk” but a decent amount of the bible is just plain instructions.
I feel like this question has arisen from someone who is new to the faith and is trying to get a better understanding of the bible.
Let’s talk about this for a second.
Plain instructions
The bible specifically mentions things in it: Listen to your parents, fear God, love thy neighbor as thyself, seek wisdom, love God above all else, etc. etc.
There is no if, and, or buts to those statements.
I guess that some people wonder about really specific instructions.
Maybe you’re wondering about homosexuality and God, or how about being in the military and God?
Those are valid points that we must take into consideration, however, we must also listen to God when it comes to these things.
There is no interpreting the bible when it says, “if a man lies with another man as if though with a woman, then he shall surely be put to death?” I mean like what other interpretation is there if it’s not that God doesn’t agree to homosexuality?
There is no other interpretation, that’s the bottom line.
Of course you can still go to heaven if you’re a homosexual, but you would have to change your ways in order to do so.
God cannot be with sin and when you’re in heaven, you will be without sin.
Words that use imagery
I feel like personally if a new Christian were to get into the faith, I would recommend maybe staying away from words that use imagery.
However, there are some things that it’s okay to look at.
For example, Jesus was being arrested and was going to go and get crucified. Then Peter wanted to save the Lord and he drew his sword and cut off the ear from one of the Roman soldiers. The Lord rebuked Peter and he said, “Don’t draw your sword, for whoever lives by the sword shall die by the sword.” And then the Lord healed the Roman soldier’s ear.
In this instance, it’s okay to interpret that whoever lives by war, shall die by war. Why? Because Jesus knew that in the future people were going to be reading this. He wanted to make a statement for soldiers and so he did. If you live by the sword, you shall die by the sword.
Now I know it could be a little intimidating trying to read the bible
Now I know that the bible can be a little intimidating trying to read it. However, God is worth the learning curve. Don’t be scared to read the bible. I encourage you to read the bible. If you have any questions about the Bible, then go to God and pray to him about what it is that you’re confused about.
I can also help out, though I wouldn’t be as good as talking to God.
Broadcast
I sure hope that I have inspired some people out there to start reading their bible. It really is a blessing to be able to go out and live your life for God.
If you want to go to heaven, then believe in Jesus and you will go to heaven.
