Hey guys, so last time, we were talking about the story of the bible. Now the point of these blog posts is to condense the bible as much as possible. I know that I personally cannot replicate the entire bible straight into a series of blog posts, so i’m condensing them.
Anyways, last time, we left off with Noah. Noah went into the ark and stayed in the ark until the oceans receded.
Let’s look at the continuation of the bible.
But first, let’s have a moment of silence
At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence in order to pray for all of the things that there are in our lives. Pray for absolutely everything. And pray for these biblical passages so that we can better understand what are the things that are happening here. Take a minimum of 5 minutes to pray for all of the things in your life.
Now back to the show
Continuation of Genesis
Now, Noah had sons and they had sons and so on and so forth. And sure enough, and during those times, God made other promises to people, more so of curses than they are promises.
When mankind wanted to make a tower to build it up to heaven, God was saddened because now mankind had no limits. And so, God gave different men different tongues and scattered them all across the world. And then, the name of the tower was called babel.
Then, men kept on sinning against God and so God introduced something else to the world. He said, “From now on men shall live no more than a hundred and twenty years old.” To this day, that is still true. There are people who say, “Wait German, I saw that the oldest person in modern times to live was 122, how can that be?” Well i’ll tell you. The calendar that we use today, was not the same calendar that God gave Adam and Eve. actually there are quite a few different calendars out there. I think that the calendar that we use today is the 3rd calendar in modern European culture. Therefore, God is following his calendar, not ours. Because if we make a calendar, that is one day long? Then everyone would be thousands of years old, Right? Therefore, we trust that God’s calendar is always right.
Anyways, Let’s get back to the story of Genesis and the bible.
So Noah had sons, and it descended all the way down to Abraham. Now, know this, There was a man who walked with the Lord every day. And the Lord took him.
Abraham was alive and he was getting older but the Lord came to him and said, “Abraham, I will fulfill my covenant with you. Through you, you will have multitudes of children. Unlike any that the world has ever seen.” so Abraham replied, “How can that be when my wife can’t have children?” and sure enough years later, when Abraham was Well old and his wife was old as well, they had a child.
Now God had also made another promise with Abraham. God said, “Through you and through your lineage, a savior will come and save the world from it’s evil ways.” “and everyone who is born through you will be called blessed.”
And it was so, then when Isaac was born, God put Abraham through a test. God told Abraham that he was to sacrifice his son to God on a mountain. And when Abraham was about to kill his one and only son, an Angel of the Lord appeared unto Abraham and said, “Do not harm the child, go and take the goat that is caught in the thicket and sacrifice it to the Lord.” So, Abraham did just that.
When Isaac grew up, he had two sons. Esau, and Jacob. Esau was the first born and the one who was supposed to inherit the glory of God through his lineage. However, Jacob stole the birthright from Esau.
However, God is not without fault, so God made a promise to make him a king and through his lineage there would be kings.
Then Jacob and his brother reconciled years later.
Years later, Jacob saw the Lord. and he asked the Lord to bless him. And God said no, then Jacob tried to wrestle with God and he said, I will not stop until you bless me? So God, broke his leg and then said, “Because of your faith, I will bless you.” So, from that point on, Jacob was called Israel (Israel means the one who wrestled with God). The rest of the bible story is about the lineage of Israel, not Esau.
So Israel had sons, 12 to be exact. These 12 sons would grow up to be the 12 tribes of Israel.
However, Israel had a soft spot for Joseph. Joseph was one of his sons and I think the youngest.
Israel did not want Joseph to work with his brothers on the field because he wanted Joseph to learn how to read and write because he said that one day Joseph would need it. And he did.
So, one day, his brothers plotted evil against Joseph. They sought to kill him, however, one of the brothers, offered to sell him to slavery instead. And it was so.
And I will save the next part for next time.
We are still in Genesis if you want to keep along with the story in your own bible.
