What does it mean to believe in Jesus?

Believing in Jesus means exactly that, that you believe in Jesus. However, Jesus also asks us to love him in the bible. By loving him, we show our belief in Jesus.

Now this part gets a little complicated because I believe in something but it doesn’t necessarily tie to another. 

With that being said, Let’s talk about what it means to believe in Jesus. 

First, let’s have our moment of silence

At this point, I will ask all of us to take a moment of silence and pray for all of the things that are in our lives. Pray for this topic because it can be a difficult topic to understand. 

Now back to the show

Believing in Jesus

To have faith in Jesus means that not only you believe in his existence. But also, to believe in what he did, and in who he is. 

It means enacting upon the words that he said and taking them to heart. 

Why? Because ultimately God is going to look at the hearts on Judgment day and he will decide who was telling the truth when they said that they loved him.

You can’t lie to God, he knows the truth at all times. Therefore, you must worship him in spirit and in truth in order to really believe in Jesus. 

What does that mean in Spirit and in truth?

Well God is a spirit and so you must worship him in spirit. However, you must also worship him in truth. 

In truth means that you are worshiping God because of all of the reasons why you want to worship him. Some of the reasons why you could worship him are

1. Fear of hell
2. Want of a reward in heaven
3. Truly love him for him
4. See that he is the only good thing in life

And there are other reasons as to why you could want to worship God, but Those are just my reasons as to why I want God. 

But when you worship God, you can’t lie to yourself and say, “Today I will worship God and tomorrow I’ll go to the club.” 

It doesn’t work that way because God wants all of you, not part of you. 

God wants to be ever present in your life at all times. 

It’s one thing that if you’re new to the faith and you don’t really know all of the ins and outs of Christianity and you mistakenly say those words out of ignorance. 

However, God knows your mind and he will tell you what is the right way eventually. 

I used to go to clubs, actually relatively recently. I am currently 26 and I was going to clubs at around the age of 22. 

However, I didn’t personally know that there would be nothing but drugs and sex at those clubs. 

It was strange because I was Christian at the time and yet I was still going to these clubs. I couldn’t believe that I was in such a place to be honest with you. 

However, I only went to those clubs and I never went back again. 

I remember the words in the bible that talk about those Christians who would reject their god on the last days and they would be appointed their portions with the “Hypocrites and the sinners.” I didn’t want to be that person. 

God was merciful because since those times I had thought about going back to the clubs. But recently God has convicted my heart about going to those clubs. I don’t want to be a part of those places.

I know that I can get lost over there. 

The way it works

So when God says to worship Jesus in spirit and in truth, there were certain things that Jesus himself said to do to show your loyalty towards him. 

The number one thing that he said was to keep his commandments. He said, If ye love him, then you would keep his commandments. 

So what are his commandments? They are the commandments of the father. 

Love God above all else, and love your neighbor as yourself. That’s the way that Jesus summarized all of the laws and the prophets. He said, “Upon those two commandments hang the laws and the prophets.”

The last part about believing in Jesus

We have to believe that Jesus came and died for our sins, because that’s what he came to do. Jesus came down from heaven, his holy throne, and became man so that we could all be saved from eternal hell. 

That’s the last part about Jesus that we have to believe in. Why? Because that’s the only reason why Jesus came down from heaven. 

He came down to save us all from hell.
