What is happiness?

Hey guys, so today, I’m going to be going over what exactly it means to find happiness. I know what some of you are thinking, “German, everyone finds different things to be happiness, how can you describe what it is?” 

Well I know that, but to some people happiness is a far distant thing that is unrecognizable and I want to show them what exactly it is.

So before we get into it, let’s have our moment of silence.

At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to God to help us to become the people that he wants us to become. Ask God to direct our paths and to become good Christians.

Now back to the show

What is happiness?

Happiness is finding God. 

I know some of you are saying, “German, that’s not really happiness, that’s sorrow!” 

Hear me out.

What happens is that we often chase after things that are bigger than us. We chase those big dreams and having a nice mansion and having a nice car and that dream job.

And we dream and dream and when we get those things, we find out that it wasn’t what we really wanted all along. 

What we really wanted was something so much more than all the money and fame that this world could ever give us. 

We wanted God. 

Let me ask you this

What is going to happen to you once you die? Is your legacy going to live on? Are you going to spiritually live on? Or will you be in eternal death? Will you live on in the minds of others? What is going to happen to you once you die?

Because even if you did become a billionaire and lived a life of luxury, what point is having those things if all you’re going to do is die in the end? 

I’m not saying don’t work and have nice things, but what I’m saying is that it’s not the most important thing in the world.

The most important thing is God. 

God gave us a way to live and live peacefully forever. He provided a way for us to build treasures that never rot in heaven. And even still, if we hearken to his voice, we can live a good life right here on earth and in heaven. God promises that he’ll always provide for us. God promises that he will always give us the things that we need if we so need it. 

That’s God’s promises and not mine. God promises to provide for us.

So, above all else, Trust that God will provide what we need. 

And Guess what else? If we align ourselves with what God wants, then he’ll give us what we want too. 

The bible says, “The desires of the righteous are only good.” Therefore, desire the good things that there are in the world and God will give it to you.  

You can’t find happiness in anything that this world has

There is nothing that this world has that will provide happiness. You can find things that are fun or exciting, but you can’t find happiness. 

A lot of people confuse fun and excitement with happiness. 

I’ll put it to you like this,

If a man has a wife and he cheats on her, cheating is fun right? It is fun right? However, once the wife finds out that the man cheated on her, it’s no longer fun and now you are not only sad, but depressed about the divorce that the wife wants. 

Why? Because you had something really good and now it’s gone. However it was fun right? It was exciting right? But in reality you weren’t finding happiness were you? 

You can name it for a bunch of other things too.

Actually you name it and it’s probably like that too.  

Alcohol, tobacco, laziness, uneducation, pleasures when you should be working, drugs, marijuana, etc. etc. it’s not happiness.

And even with seemingly, “good things”, you don’t find happiness in this world. 

Jobs, money, power, a person, your education, friends, food, music.

There is something to be said about music. 

I have heard of many times how musicians committed suicide because they couldn’t live the life that they were living. And so now that they had all the money and power in the world, they still were unhappy. 

So like it goes to show that money, fame, and everything in the world, will not give you happiness. It’s God who gives happiness. 

Many times that has been proven, and as long as there are foolish people out there in the world, there will be people who aren’t happy even though they have everything.

There is no catch to the happiness that God gives, however there is something to be said. 

Once you’re with God, you tend to find a lot of things fun to do. Things that are good. 

Like, you could find fulfillment in your job, you could find love, you could find security, you could find peace. 

So like the things that I mentioned above that are good, don’t have to be filled with sorrow, they can literally be good things! And they are good things. God doesn’t say that money or power are bad things. God gives power to those who he sees fit should deserve power. God gives money to those that deserve money. Etc. etc. 

So like, we can have those good things in our lives, but we need to have God at our side in order to do so. They can be good things and they can be fulfilling. Trust in God that God will provide the happiness for you and that God will guide you more towards a better life. 

Happiness is not found in money. Happiness is not found in jobs or people or houses or cars. 

Happiness is found in God.
