Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to go over some music career advice for everyone who wants to start their lives as a musician. Keep in mind, I’m going to be going over the business side of things so things like writing songs, practicing your instrument, and learning to sing aren’t going to be talked about. I’m assuming that since you’re reading this, you’re already doing those things. If you’re not doing those things, then you need to start doing those things.
But before we go into any of that, let’s have our moment of silence.
At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray for God to help us to become the best possible person that we are supposed to become. Pray to God to help us to be the people that God wants us to be.
Now back to the show
Music career advice
When you’re in any job, you usually start out with little to nothing and build your way up. People at restaurants start as cashiers and end up as general managers. People in construction start off with the hammer and end up with the crane. People with different backgrounds and experiences end up doing a whole bunch of things in life.
So, when you start out in the music industry, the same is true for everyone. You start out not having the influence, money, or power to make a great album. You start off playing small shows, having little gear, and barely getting by.
So, when you have a slow start, just know that it’s a part of the music game and that if you were to do anything in any career, it would all be the same.
And guess what? You can have a lot of fun doing the music career. I know that Lawyers and Doctors have fulfilling careers ahead of them and they are absolutely essential to the world.
But if someone else wants to do those jobs, go right ahead. I really don’t want to be involved in politics and having someone’s life in my hands.
Me personally I don’t want to diagnose anyone because if you’re wrong, then you are all to blame and someone’s life could get ruined.
And I don’t want to be a lawyer because the mafia and the gangsters are going to be looking to me for help!
And if I mess up, then they’re going to blame me for whatever sentence they end up receiving.
Nah, I want to do a job that’s good in nature, pays well, loves everyone, and is fun to do.
Music is the answer.
I’m not saying that Lawyers and Doctors are bad, and as a matter of fact, I thank every lawyer and doctor that’s out there, but me personally I don’t want to be those things.
Another reason why I don’t want to be those things is because I just don’t see myself paying all the way up through doctor school. I mean if my parents were richer and could actually afford doctor or law school, I might’ve considered it because then I know that I had support.
But anyways, back to the topic at hand. I chose the music life because of a few reasons
- I was good at it. Even early on in my music career, I was one of the best in my class for learning music.
- My parents ENCOURAGE me to do music. It’s funny because I have heard people confronting my parents about why they encourage me to do music. The people look at them and say, “Why do you encourage him? there’s no money.” and my parents just look at them and I’m so encouraged to keep doing music when they answer because they say, “You don’t know how good he is.”
- My parents always taught me to do the things that I love. However, my mom always taught me to think about God first before I do anything. So she said that I had to think about God first before I do anything because God is the one who allows people to succeed at what they do. So she said to me when I first started the guitar, “Pray to God about all of the things that you want to do. I don’t know if God wants you to become a musician, I just know that God’s will is going to be done.” So I trusted that. And I trusted that God’s will is going to be done and not mine.
- I have prayed to God about my music career. I have done things in the past and failed at them. I haven’t failed, but I didn’t stay committed to them long enough to reap the rewards. And so, I have prayed about music and honestly, the Lord has answered. Everytime I think to myself that I’m only getting worse as the years go by, I come to find out that I’m only getting better and honestly, I have to thank God for that.
- I have prayed to God to bless this blog. Sure enough when I prayed to God all the way at the beginning of this blog, he answered because this blog is growing and all I have to do is add more volume to it now.
So, you’re going to have to be patient and pray for the music career that you want. You’re going to have to endure and struggle and go through the grind before you become the musician that you want to become.
It’s difficult, but no one ever said that the good things in life are easy to get.
Pray to God to help you to get through the difficult things in life and he will help you to get through the difficult things in life.
Practical music career advice
If it were me and I had to start all over again, I would say to make as much content as possible and put it on a blog or a YouTube channel.
Why? Because ultimately anyone could be a potential customer for your music. And ultimately, there are people out there who would love to listen to your music regardless of what it is.
Of course it’s good to have good music because people do like good music. But that’s for a different discussion.
So, make as much content as possible and just start to watch the views come in.
It’s going to take a lot of time before you make 100 blog posts. And an even longer time before you make 100 blog views a month. (on average)
But don’t give up and stay consistent.
