Ahh content, I understand that you want to make more content. And who wouldn’t?!?! Studies show that the more content that you produce more frequently, the more you will gain traction on google and develop a following.
Before we get into any more tips and tricks, let’s all have our moment of silence
At this time, I would like for all of us to pray to God to help us to become the best possible person that we were destined to become. Take a minimum of 5 minutes and pray to God to help us to do these things.
Now back to the show
Creating content 101
So I always tell people that if they’re new to blogging or probably don’t have a strong work ethic, then give yourself a break and start off slow and small and build yourself up.
Start off writing for like 20 minutes to 30 minutes a day and then build yourself to where you can write about a lot of things frequently. The more you write, the better you will get at writing.
And if it were me, I wouldn’t even focus on writing something revolutionary and life- changing. If it were me, I first need to know what good content looks like. I need to see what good content that I produce looks like.
So, I’ll write about topics that are easy to write about first and try and see if I can put more value in this blog post than what is out on the internet.
So, I might pause every few sentences and go over what I’ve talked about and see if I can build more from that.
Almost everyone has something valuable to say, so don’t think that just because you’re not the smartest or richest that you can’t make it.
When I first started writing in this music blog, I started out by talking about music theory. I was well-versed in talking about music theory.
I of course was also talking about Christianity because I believed that God is the driving force behind me.
But when I talked about music, I was talking about music theory.
Now, it’s almost impossible to go over all of the fine details of music theory in one blog post because a lot of the things require that you take time and practice to become a good musician.
Like say for example rhythm, it’s easy to copy a lot of the rhythms in popular music. However, in order to create new rhythms that are exciting yet familiar, you need to have played A WHOLE BUNCH OF MUSIC first.
Why? Because that rhythm will be found in all that music and if you have it already at your fingertips, then it’s easier to pull from your memory bank than to think that you “created” a new rhythm.
The reason why I say “created” is because in essence, every rhythm has already been created. It’s just that shaping it and adding art to it is what differentiates it from song to song. That’s where the artist is born.
But back to the topic at hand. Creating content should be something that you build yourself up from it. Don’t think that just because you “think” you have it all together that you can make it happen on your first go and with barely doing any effort.
There are people on the internet who say that you can get by and make a great blog with only one hour of work a day. However, I just don’t think that it is true.
I know I just said to start out writing in your blog for 20 minutes a day, but at some point, you’re going to have to ramp things up. I would say give yourself 6 months of writing 20 minutes to ramp things up with your blog.
Give yourself and hour and then two and then 3 or 4 until eventually you have 6 hours of blogging in you each and every day.
I know that’s the long game, but it will be worth it.
And there’s another reason why I say to start out writing about easy topics. It’s especially important to always be adding content to your website, however, It’s even more important to add content to your website as soon as possible.
The first three months to a year are very important to your blog so as much content within that year is very good for your SEO.
I’m not saying that you can’t bounce back from a slump, but why would you want to do that when you can already have a good running blog with 20 minutes of work each day? It’s a small sacrifice to make in order to have a good blog.
So, write as much content as possible whilst’ pacing yourself. Remember this is the long game.
Finding inspiration
There are a few ways to look for new topics to write about. The internet is a really good source for finding inspiration.
But we should start with what every Christian should start with no matter what they do.
Asking God.
We need to ask God to inspire us to make new blog posts that are great. God knows what we need and want and God will answer when the time is right.
Sometimes it’s not a matter of inspiration though. Actually a lot of times it’s not a matter of inspiration, but rather, it’s a matter of work.
It’s good to research the topics that you’re going to write about through google trends to see what people are talking about regarding your topic.
That way, in case there is something hot being talked about in your topic, then you can jump on the bandwagon and ride the traffic until you achieve success.
You can find inspiration though through prayer, reading the bible, and going to church.
It’s not bad to look for inspiration, but remember it’s more so of perspiration than inspiration.
Once you have been writing for a while, good topics will come to your mind naturally. So don’t worry about a slow start because you will make better posts in the future.
It’s a bit of a learning curve in order to blog. You have to learn how to write for a blog, find out what your audience likes, learn how to create good content, etc. etc. But everything is a learning curve so just work like crazy and you will do something with your life.
