Hey guys! So today, I’m going to go over blogging for Christian music blogs.
Before we get into it, let’s have our moment of silence.
At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to God to help us to become the people that he wants us to become. Take a minimum of 5 minutes and pray for these things.
Now back to the show
Blogging for Christian music blogs 101
So there are a few ways that you can blog for a Christian music blog. They all take time to actually do, but they can be quite fun to do.
So if you’re reading this, I’m going to classify you into three groups:
- You want to write in your own music blog. The reason for this is that you are probably an aspiring musician and you want to generate views and followers of your own. You might want to get your music career started or are looking to expand. Awesome! I’m doing the same!
- You want to write for other people. It’s a great career path to go for. You have the liberty of making up your schedule. You have the freedom of working whenever and wherever you want. Lastly, you get to share your expertise with the world through an already established platform.
- You have a ministry and are just looking to put a spotlight on your music side. It’s very important that you share your ministry with the world because we are called Christian musicians for a reason.
If you’re not one of these people, it’s okay, I know that you’re trying to make a Christian music blog for your own reasons, it’s fine! But let’s talk about reason 1 and 3 first and then we’ll talk about reason two and I have a reason for that, just let me get to it.
Reasons 1 and 3
I personally write about reasons 1 and 3 because it’s what’s in my heart and mind to do. I believe that I was called to write about God through this blog so that the word of God reaches the world.
I also want to share my music because I know that this world has a lack of biblically sound music in it. So I want to put biblically sound music in it.
I want the world to know more about God, so if I can do so, then I have a purpose for this blog.
So if you’re writing for reasons 1 and 3, I give you an applause!
Reasons 1 and 3 are absolutely essential to the world because the world needs to know more about God.
When writing for reasons 1 and 3, it’s important to remember that God is at the forefront of our lives.
It’s important to remember that through God, our blogs will grow.
I know that some people out there are probably saying, “German, what about those people who don’t have God and yet are very successful?”
Always remember that it is God who puts people in powerful places. So remember that when the Israelites were in Egypt and Moses was trying to get them out, it always said, “and God hardened Pharaoh’s heart.”
That verse means that God is the one who is in control regardless of the situation.
And God can do whatever he pleases to get the outcome that he wants.
After you know that God is the one under control, you have to be biblically sound.
This means that you need to know the bible, at least at a decent level.
It could mean for you, reading the bible each day and learning from it. It could mean increasing the amount of time that you are at church. It could mean that you pick up a study guide for the bible, etc. etc.
What about practical writing tips?
Personally, My writing transformed when I broke up my paragraphs into smaller sections and used commas more appropriately.
Now I know that it’s not “technically” right writing, haha. But for a blog post, it’s important that you break up new topics and new areas into small sections.
Doing so will make the blog post more readable.
And you don’t have to use correct sentences ALL THE TIME, even though 96% of the time it would be good to use it.
Commas are easy to use and you can use them in several ways. Here are some examples.
- Use a comma at the beginning of an introduction phrase, ie,
“I love God with all my heart, but It’s difficult to do so all the time.”
- Use a comma in lists. ie,
“I love the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.”
- Use a comma to better describe something in the place of a parentheses. ie,
“Jesus died for me, German Gonzalez, because he loved me.”
- Use a comma to add a side note. ie,
“I love the Lord with all my heart, even more so than my mom, because he was the one who made me.”
- Use a comma at the end of a sentence to sort of enhance the sentence. Ie,
“God wants you to believe in Jesus so that you can go to heaven, so believe in him.”
There are quite a few other ways that you can use a comma too, but those are primarily the main ways that you can use it.
Reason 2
If you’re writing for a music blog for a career or to get money out of it, it’s okay but just know that it’s a lot of work.
What most people will want to see before you write in any blog is a sort of resume about your writing experience.
You don’t need a degree in English in order to write for any blog and there is no formal requirement, but of course it wouldn’t hurt you.
What your resume should show is all the blogs that have benefited from your writing.
It could be your own blog, another person’s blog, or any sort of writing, just as long as it shows and highlights your best performances.
Usually you break into the door of the blogging for a career world by writing in your own blog first and making it successful.
