Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to talk about how long it really takes for someone to become, “successful”, in the music industry.
By successful, I mean that you can make a living off of your music and can pay a little more than just pay the bills.
Before we get into it, let’s have our moment of silence and pray to God to help us to succeed in our music careers.
At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to God to help us in our music careers. Take a minimum of 5 minutes and pray for these things.
Now back to the show
It’s not going to happen in one night.
I’m pretty sure that some of you have that whole mindset that you’re going to go viral with one video and that’s it, your music will go everywhere and anywhere that you want it to go.
Well can I say that, that’s big dreaming right there.
I’m not trying to crush your dreams, but I think you have the wrong perception of what success really looks like.
In reality, it takes a few years of posting things up on YouTube before your video can actually go “Viral”.
Let’s look at a prime example of what everyone thinks is overnight success, Justin Bieber.
People think that Justin Bieber became an overnight success, however, let’s look at how Justin got into the music industry.
Justin actually had been playing in local shows around his hometown for years before he got signed.
When YouTube came out, Justin started posting up videos of him singing and playing guitar. And it wasn’t until 2009 that Justin released his single Baby with Usher and Scooter Braun.
Now I know that we’re not really interested in pop musicians per se, but I’m just trying to give an example of how musicians actually get into the music industry.
So now what about you?
I used to say that only young and talented kids could actually become successful with music.
I’m not so sure about that anymore.
The reason why I say that is because I keep reading on the internet that no matter how old you are, there will always be people who will resonate with your music.
And even though you might not get that major record label deal, it’s always good to strive for the best.
I one time read that the guys who made La Macareña were actually 40 years old when that song took them to international fame.
And that song was a pop song!
You don’t know it, but it’s a custom that the younger you are for pop music, the better it is for you as a star.
The process is all that matters
In reality, the process is all that matters when it comes to getting signed to a record label.
I know that it’s a long and hard process in order to get signed, but have some patience with yourself and just understand that it will all be worth it in the end.
Remember that everything good in life takes hard hours of sacrifice, a long time to achieve, and the Lord to bless.
